Adelabu Denies Building Mansion After Becoming Minister by CHelena(op): 2:33pm On Aug 13, 2025
Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu has dismissed claims that his much-discussed white mansion was built within two years of his ministerial appointment, insisting the property was completed before he assumed office.

In a statement by his media aide, Femi Awogboro, Adelabu described the allegations as “false, mischievous, and misleading,” accusing critics of attempting to tarnish his reputation amid ongoing discussions about electricity tariff increases.

According to the Minister, the building project began in November 2021 and was completed in August 2023, a month before his appointment as Minister of Power in September 2023. He backed this with dated photographs, building approvals, and other official documents.

“I began and completed this project before my appointment. I only moved in this year due to work schedules and timing constraints,” Adelabu explained. He added that the attention was triggered by a viral video showing him hosting Fuji star Alhaji Wasiu Alabi Pasuma after the Ibadan North Federal Constituency by-election campaign flag-off.

The Minister further clarified that he has lived at the same location since 2010, when he first built and unveiled the original structure during his career as a senior banking executive. The current mansion, he said, is simply a redevelopment of the old property to meet the demands of his political engagements.

Adelabu also highlighted his longstanding investments in hospitality and real estate across Oyo State and beyond, which he says have created jobs.
