Instead of adequately funding the existing tertiary institutions, it went about the political proliferation of these institutions and now reality has finally dawned on it that it had been a misplaced priority and a glaring economic burden.

5 or 7 years is too small!

The period should be indefinite until such a time when the current ones have attained sound footing and the need for new ones arises.

Stop using ineffectiveness of one region to judge others. He was explicit on why they wanted the moratorium but because they dont want it to sound tribal hence every region was affected. The Eastern Nigeria was the reason for establishing most Northern Universities but things have changed and the East now has theirs and the north can't occupy all the Universities the government established in the North.

He cited an example from the northern region where a federal university had fewer than 800 students but employed over 1,200 staff members.
