Security operatives have arrested Sirajo Ahmad Dan Liman, Deputy Chief Imam of the Central Jumu’ah Mosque in Kangiye, Atakwanyo Ward, Gwadabawa Local Government Area of Sokoto State, for alleged collaboration with armed bandits.

Sources said intelligence investigations linked him to the supply of motorcycles and other essential items to criminal groups operating along the Tangaza–Niger Republic border axis.


Operatives reportedly discovered N47 million in his bank account, suspected to be proceeds from the transactions.

Further findings revealed that Sirajo also serves as the ward chairman of a political party in Atakwanyo and the secretary of the forum of political party chairmen in Gwadabawa LGA.


The suspect, who often deputised for his father, the Chief Imam, during Ramadan and Friday prayers, is said to have been under discreet surveillance before his arrest.

Authorities said the operation was part of efforts to dismantle the financial and logistical networks sustaining banditry in Sokoto and neighbouring states.

In addition to this, a deadly bandit leader was captured without a gunshot in Niger State over the weekend, and no one is praising Tinubu for it. Let's be fair, the security agencies have upped their game under this administration. Kudos to the president, the NSA, the service chiefs, and the DG, DSS. I am hoping to see more professionalism from the Police under the current inspector general though...

I was once discussing with a Muslim on this forum. Ohyoudidnt to be precise . I pointed out the numerous bloodshed committed by their prophet and what boko-haram is doing currently. He was in denial and trying to paint Mohammed good. I asked him to condemn Boko haram. He refused. I pressured him severely in mentions to him to condemn Boko haram to prove that Islam does not condone bloodshed, he blatantly refused to condemn Boko haram. Since that day, I came to understand how very dangerous a Muslim can be.

The fact remains that they all remain a criminal.
Look at all gumi, he knows where the criminal are.

That is the extent our people can go for political gains. Nigerian style of politics is devoided of public interest and patriotism.

If military comes in today and they ready to fight all these bandits and indulgents, within 1 year they will suppress them, but with civilian, with party, religion or tribe, consideration,it would take Almighty intervention to stop.

Very good, nobody is above the law, no Imam, pastor or cleric is above the law...they gave themselves the title, if they go foul of the law, deal with them severely...imams or pastors have no power in our constitution.

Accessory is a serious criminal offence...any cleric or imam that is praying for terrorists or negotiating for terrorists forgiveness instead of exposing the terrorists location to security operatives is a terrorist.

Nigeria is a federal republic not a kangaroo or banana republic... religious leaders have no place or powers in our constitution to do the work of the judiciary or government.

I have never seen a very evil person who was not very religious. I have also not found a very good person who was very religious.

You are wise, Yoruba culture is better and superior to Arab culture...only a fool will abandon a progressive culture and claim one which indoctrinates to the detriment and abandonment of Yoruba culture. Even if you are a Muslim use your head, don't jeopardise your safety and peaceful nature of southwest by Islamization and sharia. Once you announce sharia, you are inviting Islamic extremists who will see it as another caliphate and Islamists extremists comes with sorrow, tears and blood.

But they still allow Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, who is considered by many to be the commander in chief of the armed robbers, kidnappers, and terrorists, to roam freely.

You are very right, as a former operative I can clearly see the difference between tinibu period and buhari period... most of us left a certain agency because we didn't want to work with a political appointmented fulani heading our department... when I was in Nigeria, I noticed most checkpoints especially in the south West axis to southern axis where mopol.... mopol does just as a good job as soldiers in tackling bandits and fulani erorist..... but how buhari and his toxic appointees total ignored using mopol...

Many of these imam of religion of peace violence can't deny involvement in insecurity.
