Presenter queries lawmaker over campaigning for APC against ADC

Hon. Leke Abejide was put on the spot by Channels Television’s Seun Okinbaloye, who questioned how the legislator reconciles his conscience with campaigning for the All Progressives Congress (APC) against his own party, the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

During the Mic On Podcast interview, Okinbaloye asked bluntly: “How does your conscience work when you campaign for APC against your party?”

The question came in the wake of mounting criticism from ADC members who accuse Abejide of undermining the party's chances while lending public support to APC figures, particularly President Tinubu and Governor Usman Ododo.

In response, Abejide argued that his political decisions were motivated by a commitment to the zoning arrangement agreed upon by some stakeholders before the 2015 election, which sought to rotate the governorship among the state’s three senatorial districts.

“I supported Ododo because it is only fair that Kogi Central completes 16 years in power, matching Kogi East’s tenure before the baton moves to Kogi West,” Abejide said.

The lawmaker maintained that his approach was not betrayal but strategic politics aimed at ensuring his Okun people in Kogi West have a strong claim to the governorship in 2031.

This public defence comes as the ADC in Kogi grapples with factional divisions, with one group moving to expel Abejide, accusing him of disloyalty and anti-party behaviour.

Did he ask Obi in LP but campaigning for ADC in Anambra or ElRufai in SDP campaigning for ADC in kaduna?

The problem I have with Seun is that he isn’t as intellectually or linguistically gifted as he tries to project with his wannabe Richard Quest impressions and gesticulations!
