'Offer compensation in line with its welfare policy',such audacity,the compensation you are going to give, should be in line with the law of the land and what the families of the victims believes to be acceptable,at this point Dangote groups cannot determine the compensation that suits them.

Damage control, this should have been the right move to see the victims family and pay compensation but they wont do it.

They re only doing this because the victim's relation has the means to publicize the atrocity to the point that the company has to act to protect its image.

Many people have lost their lives and property to the reckless driver of this group.

just because you insure your vehicles doesn't mean your drivers should be reckless, hope they dont use police to silence the victim like they always do.

Truck collision on the road is an unfortunate universal thing, BUT WORSE in this country due having so many unfortunate reckless drivers and BAD ROADS.
NORTH GENERALLY HAS ONE OF THE BEST ROAD NETWORKS

In the South, especially the East, most of the criminally rulling don't take road constructions seriously.

Dangote group should subject their drivers to drugs tests, especially tramadol! Those Hausa drivers abuse tramadol and other CNS depressants like Benzos. These drugs cause drowsiness and sedation which is why they readily sleep while driving and go off track; crushing unsuspecting pedestrians in the process.

Dangote has no single liability.Rhey are covered by insurance. Na the insurance company get issues with the victim.

Slightly related: Insurance laws in Nigeria especially as it concerns logistics and vehicular movement can be tricky. Therefore, do not delay when such an incidence occurs. Use everything legal and every availableeans to formally notify Dangote and the insurance company, if you know them.

If you don't, get someone to write the MD/Legal Head of the particular Dangote company involved within 48hrs. Write via any available means. Your chances at compensation at always better if you do this.

I am putting this out here cos I am well aware that it's not everyone that can raise alarm and get attention like Phyna. Some may be too broke to even afford legal services during these trying periods. So, anyone that can put up a letter can write. Jotst notify them. Even if it's in pigin or your native language.

I said as much in a different thread.

Dangote or any of his managers has no obligation to visit the sister in hospital. It is a traffic accident. The trucks are insured. The insurance company will foot any bill!

Is it not hospital bill and compensation they want? What does Dangote or his manager coming to see her do except to take picture?

We have been so used to anyhowness in this country for so long that we have a generation who don’t even know how things are done. We have people that think because I hit you in a traffic accident I must come and visit you in hospital…..for what? That’s why I have insurance!!! Ask for my insurance details and make your claims to the insurance company!

This is what I was saying on the other thread about high speed trains. That in most countries such capital goods produced in enormous quantities are distributed by rail cargo.

You just cannot have factories producing such enormous quantities (Dangote's combined output is over 20 million tons annually) and expect trucking will not have devastating HSE (health, safety & environmental) effects.

In organised societies part of the requirements for his factories will be to have rail links to the nearest mainine for onward distribution tomain depot's and from there regulations made to distribute much smaller loads to market.

In this light you can just image the HSE impact of Dangiote refinery to the entire Lekki Peninsula in years to come considering how dangeruos every single product co.ing out of that place.

A country simply cannot industrialize without functional, safer and cheaper alternatives to road transport. There are far too many trucks on Nigerian roads and this will only worsen road safety going forward.

Most of the these guys driving their truck are incompetent with the way they drive

Sometimes when I see these guys on highway driving recklessly, I normally find a safe place to park my car and wait for several minutes so that they will leave the road completely before I proceed with my journey

Some of them mostly drive like someone who doesn't value life at all

The same Auchi junction, many years ago, I was driving to Abuja from Benin on sanitation day and the council with the vice chairman barricaded the federal highway to stop and arrest motorists on the road. I told them that this is a federal road and that they don't have any right over the road. The vice chairman ordered for my arrest and a police officer opened my door and was about to enter the car and looked back and saw a Dangote truck on high speed unwilling to slow down and climbed the kerb of the road and the police officer quickly jumped out of my car and ran away. I quickly drove away and followed the truck behind. With the scenario, was Dangote truck a life saver or a danger to the society? I have observed his trucks and his drivers. The drivers are not trained and with the incentives given to them, they still misbehave.

Do you remember the popular graduate truck driver recruitment exercise? He recruited Graduate Truck Driver trained them at truck driving school. He later dismissed them. I applied but wasn't successful.
Then again, he recruited about 1200 Graduate Truck Officers which I was one of them. We worked on probation with his cement companies in Obajana and ibeshe for six months after which he disengaged all of us once.
That man is not ready to stop cutting corners and sadly, he will never stop.

I am yet too find anyone that won court case with dangote because the company usually abandoned the trucks with the police. The truck killed one of my friends alongside with others and they abandoned the truck there. No body shows up even The family were just wasting money with lawyers and courts case. About not showing up at the police stations for the trucks or victims, you're correct. But you're wrong about the reasons.
I worked at Dangote cement transport section of ibeshe cement plant as Truck Officer managing six trucks and its drivers. Dangote staff don't show up at the police stations because they are greatly understaffed at all his transport sections across all his companies.
When he hired us as truck officers, we were assigned to six trucks per officer in ibeshe and seven trucks per officer at obajana (800 were already working as truck officers and another 400 recruited but waiting for the call up). Imagine 800 multiply by 6.5 trucks with many trucks yet to be assigned!
At that time, we were going across the nation police stations and FRSC to settle different cases of accidents and insurances and retrieving his trucks with monthly stipends of 60k. But bam! He dismissed us all after six months, no reason given at all. And he was back at his initial arrangement of 50 trucks per Fleet Analyst. Imagine one person managing 50 trucks, that's disaster!
I guess he fired us because his running cost spiked noticeably.
And thank God that he disengaged me, I would have been trapped since 2016. I wouldn't be independent and be where I'm today. I put to use on my own, the experience I gained working with his transport section.

So, because people cannot boycott Dangote fuel, they should fold their hands? There should be different strategies to getting attention of some of their companies. Same strategy doesn't work for all. We all pray for a better Nigeria where people should be held accountable for any of the actions.
