There is motivation to put more effort in white and green Jersey now. Players might be rich but at least $100k and landed property in Abuja are still something.

Give honour to whom honour is due. GEJ tried his best for Nigeria and it has started to yield results. If Tinubu achieves anything meaningful I'll be the first to praise him.

Once, bonuses were peanuts.
Super Eagles cried, β€œNo pay!” β€” threatening strike before the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, fearing their $30k-per-player bonus wouldn’t be paid.
Nigerians dragged the government online, and it took presidential intervention to resolve the crisis.

Then the Super Falcons shouted, β€œToo small allowance/bonus compare to Eagle!” β€” their $23k allowances in 2016 was claimed to be too small by Nigerians. And Nigerians demanded, β€œPay them like the Eagles β€” they’ve brought more glory!”

Fast-forward: the government pays big $100k.
Now Nigerians complain, β€œToo much for ordinary players!” and they compare footballers to doctors, lecturers, and soldiers.

Moral: "Nigerians are Nigerians and you can never satisfy Nigerians"

Human beings can be satisfied, no matter how you want to please them.

This was how many of you were jubilating when Nigeria was trailing by 2 goals in the finals of WAFCON but God was on our side and the enemies of Nigeria were shamed.
