A huge crowd turned out Saturday to warmly welcome Minister of Defence, Badaru Abubakar, as he arrived in Jigawa State for the Babura/Garki federal constituency by-election in his home constituency.

The turnout was striking, especially amid swirling rumours that the minister might skip the election due to growing internal APC tensions. Speculation suggested a widening rift between supporters of the minister and factions aligned with Governor Umar Namadi, raising doubts about his appearance.

Saturday’s event, however, proved the rumours wrong as thousands of supporters greeted him with cheers, chanting slogans such as “Oyoyo Baba” in Hausa, which means “You’re warmly welcome home, father.”

Badaru’s absence had been notable at several key APC and state government events recently, including last week’s major campaign rally in Babura, where Governor Namadi publicly handed over the APC flag to candidates amid a massive turnout of party heavyweights.

Despite previous no-shows, the Defence Minister’s appearance energised the APC base, signalling unity ahead of the crucial by-election and reassuring supporters concerned about internal party disputes.

Several party leaders praised Badaru’s visit, saying it demonstrated commitment both to the party’s victory and to Jigawa’s development.

“Minister Badaru’s appearance today shuts down all rumours,” said APC stalwart Musa Shehu.

Minister that ought to be asked to resign or sacked long ago owing to his failure to curb violence and deaths ravaging the country
Re: By-election: Huge Crowd Welcomes Badaru In Jigawa by DeLaRue:
And we are told all of these APC followers will suddenly turn around in 2027 and vote Mr Atiku or Mr Obi of ADC.

So all the Northern APC big wigs who are benefiting from this government will not do everything possible to protect the source of their bread and butter in the hope they will continue to benefit until 2031?

Instead, they will ask their followers to vote ADC candidates to take over while the APC stalwarts are sent into political wilderness by their own handiwork?

The Northern PDP stalwarts who ganged up against Mr Jonathan to kick him out of office were replaced by APC appointees once Mr Buhari won, and many of those PDP stalwarts who thought they were fighting for Northern interest by ganging up against their own party not only lost their livelihoods, they have disappeared from national politics since Mr Jonathan lost, and PDP has not recovered since 2010.

You think Northern APC stalwarts will not have learned from that?

For most Northern APC stalwarts, 2027 will be about personal interest, not Northern interest.
