Bye Elections Outcomes: What Does It Portrays For Nigeria Democracy? by NewHe(op): 9:26pm On Aug 17, 2025
With the recent conduct of bye elections in about 12 states and results declared with winners emerging, can we then say Nigeria is trending towards a one party state?

The results declared so far shows;
All Progressive Party-APC
People Democratic Party - PDP
All Progressive Grand Alliance -APGA and
New Nigeria Peoples Party-NNPP emerges victorious, it should be noted that the ruling party in the respective states takes the lead!

Nigeria's political party system is characterized by a mix of dominant parties and a multitude of smaller parties, with a notable lack of strong ideological foundations. The two largest parties are the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Other notable parties include the Labour Party (LP), New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), and All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). Many smaller parties exist, but they often struggle to gain significant traction due to the dominance of the larger parties and the prevalence of personality-driven politics.

Contrary to the hue and cries of political activist and opposition, Nigeria doesn't seems to trend towards a one party state!
Any further observations?
