Jubrilv:
Ayinla Omowura is my own favorite legend when it comes to Yoruba Music

Thunderfayamods:
Ma fo wo kan ibe ye ijo ni ko bami joo day! That was Sunny Ade not Barrister. He sang it in his album "Let them say".

Thunderfayamods:
Stop spreading fake news Barrister is not the pioneer of Fuji music.

opes:
Ayinla Omowura for me. He composed his songs beautifully, sad he died young..

I have educate others about this before... U can go tru the comments section, u wil see it there.. we learn everyday

Akharmony:
Fela is not a good model for any serious person. Hid smoking habit is just very dangerous for the health. Intelligent man livi g like a demon possesed person. I will sometime agree with thosw who said he was a lucifer agent.perhaps his gift camw from the underworld; wettin i sabi self. Many youths now listening to his song with drugs and diffrent synthetic cannabis in the nmae of curing depression. Fela is not a good model simple

ZUBY77:
It's an insult to put fela in the same group with the other unkwown KWAM 1, KWAM 2 and KWAM 3

obembet:
I think Haruna Ishola is in a league if it's own, even Anigilaje admitted to Baba N Gani agba's greatness.

obembet:
Sunny Adé falls under Jùjú music —and he is its greatest modernizer and global ambassador. KSA took Juju to the global stage, innovating with electric instruments. One of the first African musicians to get a Grammy nomination (1980s) and tour worldwide with massive success.

Thunderfayamods:
Ma fo wo kan ibe ye ijo ni ko bami joo daddy! That was Sunny Ade not Barrister. He sang it in his album "Let them say".

Kalulu44:
Oh! Thank you for the correction. I meant to rmbr Ijo yoyo by Barrister and Sisi tan lo wo eyin, iwo la'n bawi ko wo eyin oooo....

Thunderfayamods:
Fela is my number one I love him forever but calling other unknown shows that you are either gen z or you don't know anything about Yoruba music.

ZUBY77:
Well, the topic didn't mention Yoruba artists, I only saw other artists.

Thunderfayamods:
Lmao 😂🤣🤣😂 Are those names Hausa names?

ZUBY77:
I am not interested in whether the name is haise or yoruba.

If the topic have "Yoruba Artists" other tribes might decide to stay clear of it. Nairaland is not a yoruba forum, even if a yoruba person started it.

OgbeniOja1:
Mine is the one and only Kwam1 the legendary plane stopper. a legend!!!!!!

mikeapollo:
Where did you learn that Haruna Ishola was linked in any form to Fuji music? He was not.
Barrister was not just a pioneer, he created Fuji music!

My favourites are Barrister and Fela.
But I like playing Omoruwa and Haruna when having a quarrel with madam and I want to pepper her body small with those Yoruba songs laced with some proverbs, idiomatic expressions and some eebu!
Fela travelled to Ghana and joined a band there for 2 years (1967-69) to learn Afrobeat. He was later joined in the same band by Hugh Masekela of South Africa
But he was very popular because of his activism and controversial songs in pidgin English which made his songs travel far.
There is no relationship whatsoever between Afrobeat of Fela and the so called contemporary ''Afrobeats''! The word ''Afro - beat'' only sounds nice to the ears, and it was adopted to represent the modern day African sounds.
Fela did not create Afrobeat. Even Orlando Julius started Afrobeat before Fela, and he actually gave 3 of his own band boys to Fela to help him establish his first band.

I agreed with u bro, Haruna Ishola had no involvement in Fuji music, and Ayinde Barrister should indeed be credited, not just as a pioneer, but as the creator of Fuji music, with deep roots in evolving earlier devotional and apala traditions......Barrister brought Fuji to limelight...but Fuji has been played in lagos (during fasting period) even before he started professional music....thanks

U are correct bro..

Is this a joke or what, to ridicule my father-in-law? If it’s a joke, you better stop it.
