An Open Appeal to the Executive Governor of Ekiti State On the Shenanigans, Absurdities, and Travesties of the TESCOM Recruitment Exercise Your Excellency, There are moments in the life of a people when silence becomes betrayal, when muteness in the face of wrongdoing is itself a complicity in injustice. It is with this conviction that I draw your noble attention to a matter which has, like smoke from hidden embers, begun to suffocate the conscience of our state i.e the ongoing recruitment exercise of the Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM). What should have been a solemn ritual of fairness, transparency, and merit, those very pillars upon which your administration has built its reputation has regrettably degenerated into a theatre of absurdities, where numbers are conjured without evidence, scores are mutilated without justification, and destinies are handled like pawns on a chessboard of official caprice. The spectacle is not hidden. Candidates: graduates and postgraduates, men and women of intellect sat dutifully for Computer-Based Tests, tackling questions so elementary that even a diligent junior secondary school student could attempt them with confidence. Yet, in the aftermath, TESCOM thought it fit to decorate these same citizens with abysmal scores of 20%, 15%, 25%, and 30%. Permit me, Your Excellency, to underscore the absurdity: these are not merely low scores, they are academic caricatures, intellectual death warrants, the sort of results that even a truant child would dread to take home. The Commission’s narrative would have us believe that hundreds of otherwise competent citizens simultaneously collapsed into disgraceful mediocrity. If one did not know better, one might imagine the examination was conducted in an unknown dialect of Mars. Even more scandalous are the contradictions: candidates who saw their provisional scores displayed on the CBT interface — 75%, 82%, 90% — suddenly found themselves officially reduced to humiliating fractions. Others, who could barely navigate the test, emerged mysteriously with stellar marks. If this is not manipulation, then truth itself has lost its meaning. Your Excellency, this matter transcends statistics; it pierces into the marrow of justice. Recruitment into our classrooms is not about filling vacancies with warm bodies, but about entrusting the minds of our children to men and women of competence and integrity. To corrupt the process at the gate is to sow the seeds of rot in the very garden of our future. Scripture reminds us: “If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?” (Psalm 11:3). We need to remind ourselves that the child destined to eat soup with bare hands reveals it from infancy. If TESCOM has begun this exercise with fraud, opacity, and whimsical grading, what poisoned harvest shall we reap when such teachers are finally unleashed on our classrooms? I therefore submit, with humility but with firm conviction, that the only honourable path forward is an immediate submission of all CBT records and results to independent examiners outside TESCOM. Let respected academics from our universities, professional examination bodies, and neutral assessors review and authenticate the scores. Only through such transparency can justice be restored and public confidence rekindled. For, as the elders say, “Ẹni tí ó bá jẹ adìẹ ló mọ iye ẹyin tó wà l’ínú rẹ”, only the true owner of the hen can rightly account for its eggs. TESCOM cannot remain both judge and litigant in its own cause. To ignore this misconduct would be to enthrone injustice, clothe it in brocade, and hand it the keys of our common trust. But to confront it decisively would be to reaffirm the covenant between leadership and the people, proving that Ekiti remains a land where truth is not negotiable and merit is not for sale. Your Excellency, history is watching, posterity is taking notes, and the people’s trust, like glass, once shattered, is difficult to restore. The hour demands courage. The moment requires integrity. The call is simple: order an independent remarking of the TESCOM examinations, and in doing so, let justice roll down like waters and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream. Respectfully submitted, Seyi Bamiteko Ido/Osi Local Government Area, Ekiti State. 08067621697 Mr Lalasticlala, mynd44, Seun |

You have put your thoughts, ideas and solutions to the table. This is commendable and if others who sat for the examination can share this piece till it gets to the Governor, I believe something should be done. Hope you won't betray them? I know the government very well, they will give you a slot to shut you up. Be hopeful |

One cannot but lapse into existential bewilderment at the perverse dialectic wherein the supposed arbiters of discursive relevance exhibit a chronic predilection for elevating zoological trivialities nay, serpentine inanities, to the sanctified pedestal of the front page, while simultaneously subjecting threads of genuine civic or intellectual gravitas to the purgatorial margins of obscurity. If indeed the teleology of forum membership is reduced to the passive spectacle of moderators choreographing a grotesque theatre of irrelevance, then perhaps the entire enterprise is nothing more than an elaborate charade of epistemological necromancy, where significance is ritually strangulated and insignificance perpetually canonized. |
