Statisense oooo! South West lower than the north east and north west? A lazy youth must have come up with this statistic.
MistyDense:
But I thought they are the most educated in Nigeria?
agadez007:
The South west is dragging the whole south Backwards
Even Northerners pass them now
obonujoker:
Fake statistics

North ke?? Wey corpers with 3rd class be the best teachers in their schools?
They are actually right. See my post below. Many people do not understand the tweet.

Slytiger:
They said basic education though i.e. NCE holders (college of education graduate) which is equivalent to OND.

We aspire for top qualifications in the South West and competition is high. You having a NCE in SW is as good as not being educated.

Why would we hire NCE holders when we can hire people with BEd and MEd which are superior qualifications.

NCE = National certificate of Education (College)
BEd = Bachelor of Education (University)
MEd = Masters of Education (University)

Why won't they?
When MC Oluomo is the one conducting the recruitment.
My neighbor who loads buses at Ojota Motor Park is now a teacher at Ajelogo Primary School.

Shout Waste!

Frankly speaking, they are using percentage and the number of teachers compared to students will always be a factor.
Stop justifying that trashy data. It's false. You people should stop believing nonsense from that site. If you need information, you search the primary source directly

It is not even NCE holders rather Grade II certificate holders that plenty in the northern Nigeria.
Slytiger; you should note that NCE is superior to OND.

To get direct email try into a Bachelors of Education program at University (i.e year 2 start of a 4 year program), the qualification accepted is NCE..

However, its interesting to know that Grade II certificate is still a thing.

That's just it. The statistics is not an indication that there's are no enough qualified teachers in the Southwest. It only reveal the fact that the majority of qualified teachers in the Southwest hold higher qualifications. Primary school. People with NCE or OND won't believe they've attained meaningful education until they pursue higher degrees. That's when you see people holding NCE certificate and at the same time having Degree certificate

When people exit a zone the teacher to student ratio goes up. When immigrants with no hope for a good life in their region flood a zone they put pressure on the system and the teacher to student ratio goes down!

It could be that South West prefer University education while some regions prefer college of education where basic education teaching qualification is obtained.

Who would (in his or her right mind) dare say South West is backward when it comes to education?

Will you be able to hire them?? Or will they be wasting their certificates if they get those not withstanding the cost?
Either ways you can't beat this argument.
South West should stop dragging the south backwards in basic education

Even if you have a first class degree in Biology and you want to pursue another degree in Anatomy, most universities will admit you to 200 level.
However, NCE holders can attain level 14 (directorate cadre) in civil service, this is the same as for HND holders while university degree holders can attain level 16 or above.
NCE is superior to OND and almost equivalent to HND

What we have in the southwest is not lack of teachers but lack of qualified teachers teaching basic education, where you have a mechanical engineering graduate for instance teaching mathematics in junior secondary school ordinarily for anyone that is okay as the engineer should have more knowledge of basic mathematic to teach the students , but in the real sense an engineer is not a trained math's teacher.

They are doing agbero work. What do you expect ? Education has taken a back seat in that region.

They also have the highest numbers of out of school children in the South after NW,NE and NC.

Agbero is now a hustle. Everyone what be MC Oluomo.

That's why you see most of them exhibiting gross ignorance on everything. Because the teachers that taught them are less qualified.
Olodo, Yeah in the south west we rarely go to college of education, we it as advanced secondary school
