The Olubadan-designate, Oba Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja, has declared that only God determines who becomes Olubadan of Ibadanland.


He made this declaration on Monday in a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Olubadan, Chief Solomon Olugbemiga Ayoade.

The former governor spoke shortly after returning to Ibadan from his travels.


Addressing guests at his Bodija residence, Ladoja said: “Only God chooses Olubadan, the choice of Olubadan is not by power, might, riches or wisdom but by God. My becoming Olubadan of Ibadanland is God’s ordained considering the challenges faced before reaching the pinnacle of Ibadan traditional rulership.”

While addressing the gathering, the former governor appealed to all indigenes and residents of the ancient city to put the interest of the nation first and urged them to support leaders at the local, state, and federal levels.

Baba, as you are ascending the throne, their is a big task ahead of you. You'll need to rise up and stand with Ibadan people on land matters and especially the one that your highly respected name is tagged with. I am referring to the Ladoja circular road proposes orridor saga. Its a daylight robbery and it will never succeed if you stand with Ibadan people on this matter.

A road that is 110km long round the city of Ibadan that 150metres wide for road and setbacks was negotiated with locals which some released for free and some asked for compensation for their crops then believing it will fast track development and open up their villages and accesstral home to the world was negotiated and agreed on then. Now Seyi Makinde has decided to change it to 1000 metres wide claiming the road will have a corridor of 425m right and 425 metres left plus the earlier 150m for the actual road and setbacks in the middle = 1000m {1km} without carrying the people along or negotiate the land that is already thousands of building standing including the ancestral and heritage of many families...... Where does he expect the land and house owners to start from in this harsh economy? ......

It’s because you don’t understand, that’s why. You don’t understand the journey it takes to become an Olubadan. Have you ever wondered why their kings are always old? do your research please. Olubadan is one of the kingships that can’t be influenced. It’s like a long queue. Only God determines if it reaches you.

God doesn’t meddle in the affairs of men.

There’s already a set down method which you guys use in selecting your monarch.

you think everybody has short memory like you of how the corruption case of over four billion naira against him was fumbled, if Nigeria genuinely and effectively fights corruption, he would have had the tag "ex-convict" added as prefix to his name, maybe you won't have said what you just said🙄. Efcc's failure has made many people look like saints . How about Olowu of iwu? How about others who ran away after commiting crime, or after being indicted or convicted abroad and serving time, just to become oba in Nigeria? Is it not the same criminal history I talked about? The way some of you talk about control over DSS, police and others, it shows how far Nigeria's security agencies have fallen low and gone under the command of some elements, so shameful

If Mr Ladoja was never convicted, on what basis do you allege that he has criminal history?
