This shouldn't even be a matter to be debated on,cuz this is Africa and this is one of the things that qualifies a woman to become a wife...But if you as a woman is insisting on it,then,you should stay put in your father's house and let meno-stop be your wall clock

Somebody should question her if her mother bears her father's name. Taking the husband's surname is viewed as a symbol of unity. Lest she forget, either you change your names or not, refer to Your marriage certificate, with the names included as a reminder. Except you didn't have a church or court wedding. And that obviously looks like it.

For me, it is either she takes it or stay in her father's house.

People just like to complicate things for themselves. Women are raised to fail in marriages these days.

Some cultures do not pay bride price like the English. And they still take up the husbands name Bride price in my place is not up to 100 bucks.
In India, the ladies pay groom price yet take up the husbands name.
Do not rush to comment next time. It will lead to unnecessary exposure.

It won't affect anything. Just tender your marriage certificate, as long as it is valid, they won't stop you.

Not necessary but we do it here in Africa. It is a Legacy of the Romans I think who put their names on everything they own.

So, a Wife taking his Husband name simply means the Husband now owns her.

I prefer the Islamic way in this, keep your Father's name. Na him born you.

No name change needed if you divorce and remarry a zillion times.

Not enough...don't believe everything you have on social media. Especially when you have kids, marriage certificates won't answer all the questions

It doesn't matter to me if you keep your Papa name or you choose to go with my own Papa name.

It doesn't matter one bit, but we live in a free world. If it makes you a proper Wife go ahead but I won't insist.

I hate it when women like this come on social media and give misleading advice like this to younger women.

If u don't want to answer our husband name, then get ready to act like he husband in the marriage. Also tell your family not to collect any single thing from me. I will just come to your family house and take u away. I won't do a single traditional ceremony or church wedding of ay sort on u. When u agree to this terms, ifunanyam wan use your father's name go grave, u are free
