If the visa is still valid and you have previously used it for the said conference, there won't be any issue using it for tourism purpose this time. All the best. femi1410: |

darasire1028:Approval depends on the visa officer; no one can give 100% guarantee. You need to prove the purpose of the trip makes sense (i.e it is in line with your field or your job and the conference is fully paid ), but note this approach is time-bound. If your application is still under processing and the conference date has passed, visa approval is 50/50, as the visa officer may not see the need to issue the visa, since the purpose of the trip has elapsed. Why don't you go for a regular visit visa for tourism and work towards a strong application proving your home ties to Nigeria. |

Hi Good afternoon My Seniors Here, Please, my wife and son have been issued a PR, and an immigrant visa. I am a non-accompanying dependent. However, they are still in Nigeria, as they are preparing adequately. My question is, can i start now to apply for my Canadian visiting visa? will it be granted? or should i wait for them to enter Canada 1st, before starting my application for a visiting visa? |
| Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by olasubomy: 7:43pm On Aug 16, 2025 |
zainjok567:. When applying for a tourist visa, the officer would analyse your ties to Canada vis-à-vis Nigeria. This does not mean you can't get approved if you apply for a tourist visa; you would need to do your due diligence to prove you are coming back and have strong ties to Nigeria because of your ties to Canada (your immediate family being permanent residents). If you can be patient, wait for your wife and kids to settle in Canada, get a job and start earning a salary, then you can apply for a visit visa for the purpose of family reunion. |

Hi guys, please I have few questions. I plan on visiting Canada next year for Easter holiday or summer. I’ll like to know how much I need to have for a 10days trip. My monthly salary is 650k, I work has an operations manager. I do have good savings in my piggyvest. I do have properties aswell(home-ties). I have a valid Uk visa, I have previously travelled to US and France. Is a total of 6M okay? Or do I need more?. I’m single, under 30. I have no relative in Canada. What more can I do to improve my chances before my application next year ![]() |

| Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by princejeto: 7:53am On Aug 18, 2025 |
Flawlesso209:If you have previously traveled to the US and you did not overstay, you are mostly likely to be approved for a canadian visa. |
| Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by princejeto: 7:58am On Aug 18, 2025 |
darasire1028:I will advice you do not apply immediately as this could make it seem like you are desperate. Wait a while probably 6months to a year and apply when you are siure you have strong documentation reflecting your strong home ties, finances and well explained purpose |
| Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by Flawlesso209: 12:15pm On Aug 18, 2025 |
princejeto:alright, what if the last time you traveled to US was 5years ago? |
| Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by olasubomy: 1:01pm On Aug 18, 2025 |
Flawlesso209:It depends on the province you are going to in Canada and what you want to do there. Presently, hotels in Canada are not cheap. If you have 6 million naira to set aside, that's roughly $5k, which looks okay for 10 days, but it depends on what you want to do and the province in Canada. If your last travel was 5 years ago, that's a good sign; it gives the vibe that you are a busy person in your home country and not a frequent traveller. |

Hi guys, Good day to you all, I am applying for my wife and I for a visit visa as a family. I have made payment after submission, However, BIL was only sent to me and not sent to my wife. And checking her profile now, she had an application number but she does not have a UCI number. I would appreciate expert guidance on if this is the norm or just a one-off. Thank you for your supportive response. |

Hi Everyone, Does Canada still ask for bank account statement that generates pin or password for them to access applicants bank statement. Or can I use the traditional bank statement ? I want to be sure what I should be requesting from the bank. Thank you |
| Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by princejeto: 3:54pm On Aug 19, 2025 |
Canadaforme:It is advisable you use 'My Bank Statement'. That is easier for VO to review and that is more handy and less stressful to upload. |

| Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by princejeto: 4:56pm On Aug 19, 2025 |
lagusboyyy:Ideally, VO will only be able to access the period specified on your bank statement submitted. However, if the VO feels a need for further verifications, he might decide to ask you for another bank statement. You never can tell. So, you may probably rely on your instincts here. |
| Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by Sheron50: 5:38pm On Aug 19, 2025 |
lagusboyyy:That means you don’t have the required proof of funds, so you borrow money just to deceive the visa officer and now you’re openly discussing your fraud in a public forum. Later you complain that Canada didn’t issue visas, when in fact it’s our own dishonesty and desperation that are at their peak Moreover, visitor visas don’t depend heavily on showing a large amount of money in your account |
| Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by Sheron50: 5:43pm On Aug 19, 2025 |
princejeto:Visa officers are smarter now and can request a new bank statement even after you’ve submitted your application. They’re already doing this for student applicants. |

I was meant to understand that decision time for Nigerian's at the moment is two to three weeks and that they have started issuing Nigerian"s visa, that means that the rate of refusal has drastically reduced. Your brother has a very strong and good travel history update, I wouldn't worry a bit should he apply for visa to any country. I tapped in his success story while I use him as a point of contact for everyone that is expecting a good news in the near future. PPR alert.
