Let me see how tribalists will attack only one tribe in this case. Crime is not good. Every tribe is infested with criminals. Meanwhile, it seems the media and the police are tired of blaming every criminal act in the East on IPOB. |

For a long time, these kidnappers who live in the bushes and forests have operated with impunity in parts of Delta State — so powerful that even divisional police officers and traditional rulers (Obis) couldn’t confront them. Their presence devastated the local economy, especially in villages along the new Itakpe–Aladja railway line, which passes through Agbor and Abraka, including the town of Abavo. Abavo was once a thriving agricultural hub, producing a wide variety of foodstuffs. But that changed when kidnappers established camps in the surrounding bush. They kidnapped and killed locals indiscriminately — except for those of Northern extraction, who could move freely through the forests without fear. Every person released after paying ransom consistently reported that their captors were Fulanis, based on the language spoken and cultural markers. This reign of terror persisted for a long time, and the people of Abavo were helpless. Eventually, local concerns escalated, and the community issued a warning for the Northerners to leave their land. The very next day, Senator Abdul Ningi, representing Bauchi Central (PDP), raised the matter on the floor of the Senate, urging the federal government to immediately deploy troops to Abavo to stop what he described as an unconstitutional eviction. However, the senator failed to address the root causes — the killings, kidnappings, and ransom payments that had plagued Abavo for years. He did not explain why the people felt compelled to issue such a warning. To be fair, the senator representing Delta North was absent from the chamber that day, possibly due to political calculations. There was concern that speaking out might be interpreted as anti-North, especially given the then-governor of Delta State’s ambition to become Vice President of Nigeria. This silence allowed the crisis to fester. The protection these criminals received from powerful Northern interests made them untouchable. And the consequences have been severe: farmers abandoned their lands, and food production collapsed, contributing directly to Nigeria’s ongoing food crisis. |

Southeast is it a state or what. You mentioned Delta and go on to write southeast as though it's an individual. Failed journalism. You couldn't identify the states in the southeast. You mean the whole south easterners are involved or what are you painting bigot |

Criminals are criminals whether Fulani, Hausa, Igbo or Yoruba in tribal origin. However it is dangerous to justify the occupation of forests by runaway Sahel criminals by mentioning the fact that every tribe has criminals as this situation is critical and has affected farming across Nigeria without exemption. |

SeeWahala:This is the answer to your question. Lieutenant-Colonel Patrick Chukwuma "Kaduna" Nzeogwu (26 February 1937 – 29 July 1967), a Nigerian military officer who played a leading role in the 1966 Nigerian coup d'état, which overthrew the First Nigerian Republic, was an Eastern (Igbo) man. His allegiance was to Biafra. He was a part of the Biafran army during the Nigerian civil war. |

The solution: Find a means to defend yourselves, the monies used to buy lexus , Iphones can get self protection devices for them. Its obvious security of citizens is not a priority of the government, so why make yourselves easy targets for kidnappers? Scores have been kidnapped and killed even after ransoms paid, if you encourage criminality it will grow. |

. Can't help but notice how the names and location of the northerners were accurately stated. But it's just "a South easterner" with no name when it comes to accusing the east. You mentioned one "South easterner" without a name and address, but make a blanket statement accusing southeasterners. Not one South easterner was named, But the term southeast appeared more than the words delta and north combined. This is nothing more than a smear campaign. Intended to pit heads together. Not vouching for any criminal from anywhere, but this piece right here emanated from a writer with the same mindset as Dabiri Erewa. . |

The government is not ready to fight insecurity in the country, the way the issue of security is handled is the reason why the thing never ends. Many fulani criminals in our bush today, most especially the south East and south south states are there for a mission.I remember One time in abraka where a leturer saw chopper dropping guns for the criminals,he raised an alarm and the next week he was killed in his farm.Fulanis have been operating in abraka and agbor Forest for a very long time and many of the security officers are from the north too giving them more power to operate. The only solution to all this is totally separation. If Biafra as a country is achieved,no Fulani ethnic group will have the mind of coming to the country forest to commit crimes.Same with south west.No igbo man will come to South West and want to detect for the people. All this is happening because we are still in the same country. |

CorrectionFLuid:The truth is that many of the criminals from the south East are moving in number to the igbo speaking part of delta state. This is possible because of the same language. The government of delta state is not smart enough to know that insecurity in the east will definitely affect the state because of the closeness.I know a time will come where asaba will become so hot because of the influs of the northern boys and criminals from the east. |
