Was there any need of dragging Prophet Muhammad into a stake that ordinary is against his teachings?!

Shehu Sani was recently invited to be a judge in a beauty pageant but he declined stating obvious reasons rooted in his religious belief.

That was totally uncalled for, a journalist should understand the 'psychology of crowd' .
So it is justified to k i l l thousands of people just because of the mentioning of a d e a d man’s name in any statement?

Thank God for Life
I Was in Malali Kaduna when the riot broke out, it's well, lost our Pastor(father to my friends) to those blood thirsty muslims. R.I.P Dr.

I still also remember the Sharia crisis too that I hid in NSRMEA quarters after FRCN.

Religious crisis has reduced
It has not

They just calmed down because they felt like they had a stake in the just concluded eight years presidency and any of such would tarnish the image of the government who stood as a representative of the superiority of their faith over others. I’m talking of the Buhari era.

Same with this Tinubu regime. Only that dissidents among them are already agitating over the fact that they don’t believe Tinubu is m u s l i m enough to carry their image.

You must have gone through strong psychological trauma that period.

This is what I fear for Europe especially England, France and Germany. The influx of extremist into those Nations through Asylum and mass migration is alarming. In the next 50 years there will be strong demand from Shariah law in some of their cities and riots will broke out
The population of m u s l i m s in those countries you mentioned is underrated. Very much underrated.

In the next ten years, r i o t s will break out in those countries and in the next twenty years, I foresee a civil w a r in those countries that will bring an end to western civilization.

I don’t plan to stay long in here. I am very sure that I’m going home to Nigeria, soon.

The Northern Almajiris killed for various reasons then when Obasanjo was in power. They stopped when Yar 'Adua came on.
Killed Corpers again in 2011 when GEJ was there, stopped in 2015 when Buhari took over.

The carried Russian flags and wanted to start killing people again when Tinubu came on board. But Tinubu no gree.
They killed again in October 2018 in Kaduna. Narrowly escaped with my life. I left Kaduna and I have never returned.

The South East is bleeding every day. A governor in the South East has affirmed that the killers are his own tribes men. Of course a tribe prominently Christians and a few self acclaimed Jews. So you can see that in human affairs violence seems inevitable. The best we can do is to try as much as possible to manage our affairs in a manner that will prevent violence from occuring and insecurity too and when such beats our pro active measures how do we react so has to have the least of casualties.
We know it won't be long before one of you bring in the east into it

I survived 1992 riot, 2000 (1&2) riot, 2002 miss world and 2018.

The state of Kaduna has declined.

It is a shadow of it's glorious days.

I laugh at those who always call for ethnic subjugation. It has no benefits.

Truth is, it has it's limits.
We need to learn from history to avoid repeating it.

This wanton bloodshed and killings were totally uncalled for. The flaring of tensions on both sides was totally needless. I lost many family, friends and well known people. God rest their souls.

Though Isioma Daniel - the ThisDay newspaper journalist inflammation statement was the catalyst, the fuse has already been lighted by palpable religious tension & charged atmosphere in Kaduna smarting out from the election. The fanatics baying for blood due to the cancelled Abuja event too didn't help matter. It was another sad part to the dark history of this nation.
Flaring tensions on both sideshuh As someone who witnessed the crisis passively, I can assure you that it was one-sided. The volatility of the situation wouldn't have escalated had Isioma not published that article. Thus, a clarion call for all Nigerians to be mindful of their utterances offline and online. One careless statement cost over a thousand people their lives.

This is how Nigerians come to terms with extremism and still find a way to intellectually rationalize it.

Why don't we have similar level of "respect for other people's deep convictions" in places like Saudi Arabia?
We are having a very deep issue in our hands but we've decided to look away. Posterity will definitely judge this generation

Whatever they did to anyone wasn't done in the name of religion but strictly political and economical. That they happen to be going to church doesn't mean they did whatever they did in the name of their religion unlike Muslims who can't think outside the Kuran, Hadith, Mohammed and Allah.
Oh so you know your Christians Forebears killed enmass too and more than anyone else but the excuse is that it wasn't done in the name of the God they worship or in the name of their Religion? Good! You are getting there slowly.

Now go back and do some more research because whatever they did was done for "God, Glory and Gold"

Now go read some more boy!

This is one of the biggest delusional psychosis ever propounded as far as Nigeria is concern. Lord Lugard and his British co-conspirators did a terrible mistake that the question of shared or divided nationhood will continue to dogged this contraption of an entity.

This is nation was never programmed to be one because of a wide difference in historical origin, value systems, ideological inspiration, ethno-religio-regional, and above all, the politico-military history of this nation.
I concur 100%

Oga, calm down jare.

You get t r i g g e r e d by every criticism of i s l a m that would have made the religion better. Christians were more f a n a t i c a l than you m u s l i m s are only that they first criticized themselves and allowed others to criticize them, that is why they are a better version of themselves.

The article clearly described your i n t o l e r a n c e and r a b i d reactions to mere words, someone made an observation, instead of you to go introspect, you are going the “what about you way.”

S i l l y
Your Forebears were more fanatical than Muslims when they worship their God? Really really? Well I guess they become less when they started worshipping the Resources of the world thereafter then? But boy how they kill, pillage and maim in order to get their hands on those Resources even when their Christian Brethren stand in the way.

Intolerance comes from both side and the silly one is that one that trigger the other into what could destroy both camp.

Silly.

I was doing NYSC in Kano when this riot took place. The city of Kano is not where a Christian should be in violent riot.
Thousands of Christian and non indigeme lives were wasted for nothing sake.in that riot in Kano.
Those street urchins called Almajiris are dangerous armies of death without mercy.
The same little Almajiri children you give money and food everyday will easily turn on you to take your life so quickly. They have been so indoctrinated with deep seated hatred for people not of their religion and moments like riots are times they become killing machines to loot and kill.
I lived in kano for 4 yrs, and witnessed 3 deadly riots in which I lost friends, co - workers and neighbours.
The riots were:
1. Beauty Pageant (Miss world contest) in which Muslims said Nigeria should not host the contest. And when Nigeria went ahead to host it, some Northern cities including Kano went on riot killing non Muslims.
2. The US war against Libya. Muslims in Nigeria especially those in Kano decided to take the anger on Christians living in the North.. Thousands were slaughtered in Kano.
3. A Frenchman drew a cartoon of Muhammed. Muslims in Nigeria got angry and started killing Christians living in the North.
I narrowly escaped with my life in Kano in those 3 riots. In one of them, I was smuggled out in the boot of a car by a Muslim colleague.

Na run I ran away from that city.
I still have sad scars and very baf memories of that city.
I remember all of them. But I was just about to enter uni during the 02 riots.

The Two World Wars were in which Theatre?

Fought by who against who?

Let's start with that.

Mind you there are dozens of Wars in Europe fought by Christians against Christians just as Muslims in the Middle East fought against each other but the Nigerian Christians don't reckon with that but will readily amplify the Muslim issues while conveniently forgetting theirs.

Since we're reminiscing bad events that happened in Nigeria. Pls can someone bring out the archives of Zango kataf massacre against Muslims, the Jos massacres against Muslims during Jonah Jang times and also the 1965 coup plotted by the evil Igbo people that killed majority of Northern leaders. Please be fast we're waiting.

I remember when this riot happened in kaduna. It was a really crazy experience…empty bullet shells were flying into my compound. We had to run to police college to take solace before they kpai me and my family.

Since that riot happened, kaduna has never been the same. God help us.
Many close friends of mine lost their lives during this riot in kabala Doki. I even meet one of the survivors yesterday. He was just a teen when they slaughtered almost a dozen people in their compound. He was lucky to have narrowly escaped .
At first they tried to slice him from the forehead down into two, but he blocked the strike with his right hand.
Very dark times

Obasanjo could have nipped this in the bud but he didn't out of fear.
I don't know if you remember the Russian flag riots in the North last year. You see how security agents handled the protesters. Live bullets, heavy flogging, prosecution and serious beatings.
They thought the President is a coward like Obasanjo. They thought wrong.

That's how you prevent this from reoccurring.
You called OBJ a coward? Dey play!

Boko Haram too was just a riot at inception until it was mismanaged and politicians took advantage of the situation to sabotage the government in power.

Making reference to this only shows that Nigeria's challenges in terms insecurity and violence is deep rooted and did not start today and can never ever end today but can only be well managed.
This cant be managed only solution is restructuring, we have to support it. This where our hope is.

The toughest was the mày 2000, very deadly and brutal of all kaduna crisis since 1987. It was free for all for 3days in the heart of the city while obasanjo was outside the country, God almighty rest the soul of all those caught up in those mindless crisis!

If the journalist's comment was the other way round, there wouldn't be any riots or killings.
Why would I get angry to the extend of kpaing someone for saying something about God what I believe in?

I can't just imagine how that Isioma Daniel live afterwards? The carnage would forever ascribed to her, and I couldn't just wrap my head with how she would feel everyday knowing that she was the cause of deaths of many lives, even though she killed none with her hand. Let everyone knows what to say or write, lest one lives a regrettable life

In those days to convince them that Jesus is a son to a god, the spirit also is part of a god then they evolved, win more heathens for a god, win everything for God, Glory and Gold.

Then they break out of their homestead when the couldn't live with each other. Then the killings continue.

Read up on what the Catholics want to do with the English Anglicans with their Spanish Sidekicks. Read up on that war and come tell me in the name of which God they fought.

Foreign religion(Islam and Christianity) has never truly helped us in Africa to be honest! In fact, Religion has never helped us at all! What we need is quality schools being funded and run by the government and or patriotic private individuals, one that wouldn't bore holes in our pockets and one that doesn't mimic and or totally copy western lifestyle.

You mean there are Wars without Violence? That's a new one.

Please educate me on such Wars without Violence.

As we are here on Nairaland, the Anglicans on the British Isles can't move freely in the Catholics stronghold of Northern Ireland.

It is the same with the Muslims in the Sunni-Shia divide.

My point? Islam and Muslims differences are usually amplified.
