Again, just because things are not perfect in Nigeria, doesn’t give cat, mouse and dog the permission to be doing things as they feel. Nigeria is a country that has rules and regulations…
Yes, it is ok to contribute to our communities, but we still have to apply common sense. Not all contributions are legal.
By the way, this has nothing to do with Tinubu; it’s time for use to speak like we have education; President is not responsible for every pot hots in our various neighborhoods. Please stop abusing our president and allow him to make our country great again.
Sometimes more radical actions is necessary by activist aimed at creating change. If you are unable to create change, step aside and let those who are brave enough to confront your oppressors do the work.

Not everything is also currently working in United States of America… Folks like VDM will be arrested in USA, if he crosses the line; incorrectly doing the right thing.

Not easy to rehabilitate ignorance..So, I’m not surprised that folks see nothing wrong with VDM’s various moves

I am not interested in people like VDM who break laws under the guise of “doing good”. When in reality they are merely using the fodder to enrich themselves. Neither am I interested in being fodder for content creators trying to divert me to their website or YouTube page to get paid.

I have already conceded and said that I take your word for it. Is it that you don’t know what that means? Under normal circumstances from my vast experience in the private sector and corporate organizations, a company of that size has a dedicated transport officer whose job is to make sure the documents for all drivers are up to date. Clearly if what you are saying is true, it wasn’t followed. I don’t have to waste my time watching people like VDM.
Well this is Nigeria and i tell u the laws that applies south is different from those in north.
The same constitution different application.

Or u don't know that u just speaking Hausa.. So many doors wil opens for you even if u dont qualify for such?
Good evening.

Commendable. The legality is debatable, but its good to see people making effort to help.

On the downside, it could lead to increased traffic jams on the areas where the speed bumps are installed

This is probably the administration that allows anything goes otherwise, this work VDM (as commendable and life-saving as it is) is doing and some actions he has taken since arriving Auchi, are enough to land him in prison after being tried in court, of course.

You don’t go preventing a legal entity and perhaps Nigeria’s highest tax paying company’s trucks from plying a road because of the unwholesome actions of some of its employees on the road. You also as a private citizen, don’t have the rights to “work” or carry out any form of alteration to a federal road without necessary permits just because you’ve the resources to or have a messianic complex.

Even state governments that are subnationals don’t touch federal roads no matter how terrible they’re (even if they’re death traps) without first receiving permission from FG but hey, it’s VDM; he’s allowed to do anything that seems populist even though he maybe breaking the laws while at it.

VDM is simply using bad situations in Nigeria to eat.
PEOPLE LIKE VDM CAN’ T EAT, IF ALL THINGS ARE GOING WELL IN NIGERIA. Their prayer is for things to remain out of place.
It is very important for all to be mindful that Not all activists are activists

please tell them! what he is doing is destruction of public property! It is a crime! We have too many ignrant Ngerians. For instance, even if you are the one who bought a transformer, the minute it is handed to the Electricity company, you cant touch it.

"In Nigeria, the destruction of public property is considered a criminal offense with severe penalties. The Criminal Code Act and the Penal Code (Northern States) Federal Provisions Act outline various provisions addressing vandalism and damage to public assets. These laws stipulate imprisonment terms and/or fines for individuals who unlawfully destroy, damage, or deface public property.
Key Provisions and Penalties:

Wilful Destruction/Damage:
Any person who unlawfully destroys or damages public property is guilty of an offense.

Specific Examples:
This includes acts like removing or defacing public property, damaging railway lines, electric power lines, or structures on public highways.
Penalties:
Conviction can result in imprisonment for varying terms, potentially up to 21 years, depending on the nature and severity of the offense and the type of property involved. For instance, damaging a building owned by the government could lead to a sentence of up to 14 years.

He is breaking the law. He has no right to do what he just did. This is clout chasing and overreach. If he is so passionate, he could have volunteered to lead a campaign on safe driving with FRSC in that axis and elsewhere in Nigeria. All this na show off. He needs to use his brain. You can't try this nonsense in western country
The best the FRSC boss will do is to promise the protesters a lip service. Laws are supposed to be made for human beings and not the other way round. The western world will not wait and watch lives being needlessly lost without doing the needful. Hence, there will be no reason for VDM to break the law.

Whenever someone takes a stand for an ideal or acts to help others, they often face opposition from those who defend the very systems that oppress them. For instance, consider the killings in Benue State. The government, whose duty it is to maintain law and order, has remained silent. Students are being killed daily on this major road, and yet, when VDM has the courage to act, the focus shifts to legal technicalities instead of the injustice itself.... Please use your head...

When Christ was accuse of healing on the Sabbath you know his answer. Is it lawfully to do good on any day?

Good is good. It's always lawfaull to do it..even if it unapproved by state hand
illegal actually means bad. A Highway should NEVER have speed bumps. do you know how many people have been killed or injured driving on a highway at night only to encounter a speed bump illegally erected by the villagers on the road with no signeage?

leave roads for experts, good intentions without knowledge may lead to worse consequences.

you are too absolute in you take. There times the experts do nothing and case are reported.

You can have areas with high robbery case with police doing nothing. The arm youth with take up resistance arm as civil vigilante. Sometimes doing the apprehension themselves. Eehmm.... Presence of speed bumps controls vehicle speed, which will ultimately reduce accidents on such roads. It's not rocket science.

And yes. You may be right about the impunity part even if he's not doing it on purpose but even FG might have forgotten that Auchi road is theirs to maintain but because VDM has placed speed bumps, trust they will remember just like you to remind him it's FG's property. He shouldn't mount it normally.... It's a highway except it crosses a residential area, then the welcomed exception.

The point is....Of what good are the many laws we have, when lives of pedestrians are at risk from careless driving....

Nigerians need to decide what they want.

you people all want to japa but trust me you wont survive over there with this mindset. trust me not everything works there. secondly how do you have a functional country when citizens take the laws into their own hands?

the solution to bad governace is not lawless citizens.

you are talking about robberies, if you were an armed robber at night, where would you target motorists on a highway at night? Exactly!!! The same speed bumps they slow down to avoid...assuming they know about it.

it is illegal anywhere in the world to have speed bumps on a highway or trunk A road. We have become accustomed to anyhowness.

As for being absolute, the reason our country is in a mess is because we arent absolute, our anyhowness is too much! The countries you aspire to emulate dont put speed bumps on highways. I'll be honest with you I was shiocked when i returned to Nigeria some years ago and saw speed bumps on highways especially in Oyo and Ogun states. abomination! but people carry on like it is normal! this is why you see nothing wrong!

All it shows is that our solution to issues are very pedestrian and lacking in thought! we dont think of the implications.

Speed bumps are for city traffic only!

creating speed bumps on the highway is not holding leaders accountable, it is endangering the lives of road users and damaging of public property. if he wants to hold leaders acountable, he should hold a protest at the site until it is fixed! not turn himself into a road contractor.

you laugh at experts? experts design road so there are road signs warning motorists of dangers ahead. does your hero have road signs warning motorists at night of the speed bumps? Thats why it is a criminal offense to tamper with roads and public infrastructure!
