Nigeria Has a Well-Developed Biscuit Culture - Fadaella Biscuit MD

According to Managing Director of Fadaella Foods Ltd, Mr Peter Igboaka,"Nigeria's biscuit culture is thriving with an estimated 500,000 metric tons of biscuits consumption annually surpassing any other African country.

Igboaka further stated that biscuits have become an integral part of Nigerian religious, cultural, and social events.

Mr. Igboaka stated this at the unveiling of new Fadaella Chocolate brands in Lagos.


The new premium products ,Fadaella Chocs are in four variants: chocolate, coffee, white chocolate, and strawberry. They are already making waves and generating buzz nationwide.

Speaking on this milestone in an exclusive interview, the Managing Director of Fadaella Foods Ltd, Mr. Peter Igboaka, described the move as both exciting and strategic.

He reaffirmed the company’s commitment to producing and marketing wholesome snacks that meet the highest quality standards of quality, adding that the new variants are “designed to delight Nigerians.”

This milestone has also attracted reviews and reactions of consumers and some others who have encountered the latest chops.

Speaking out, a major distributor Mr. Chijioke Okafor, described the chocolates as “game changers” expected to shake the market “with their exceptional quality and taste.”

Similarly, a consumer, Mrs. Ijeoma Nwosu, confessed that the new products are the best chocolate products she has ever tasted.

“I buy Fadaella products for my children and these new chocolate products are the best I’ve seen in the market in recent times,” she emphasized, while expressing and reaffirming her satisfaction with the quality.

Recall that Fadaella Oatmilk Biscuits pioneered the oatmilk biscuit segment in Nigeria. The company's products currently enjoys wide acceptance, with distribution in over 30 countries.

Since its entry into the Nigerian market with the flagship Fadaella Oatmilk Biscuits, Fadaella Foods Ltd. has continued to expand its portfolio, introducing over six additional products, including the popular Fadaella Lollipop. Yale, okay food and nasco have not failed. In fact, they keep reinventing. They always phase out old products and introduce new ones, and I guess because you no longer see their products that you grew up with, you assumed they are no longer in business.

Yale remains king of this segment of fast moving consumer goods.

But one pattern I’ve noticed with locally produced biscuits (especially the ones from Yale) is that, whenever they launch a new product, the first few batches come out with good quality. After that, it’s as if the standard falls, and what follows is a watered-down version of the original

Yes, I'm in the line, too. Just imagine Yale choco rings that was best seller last year has given way for Yale munchkin and shortbread, though the latter are bigger and higher in prices. Local biscuits business is really booming.

I understand. One needs to watch Sugar, and, of course, cholesterol level as he advances in age. But Parle Soda cream cracker (sugar free) is something good for your demography.

This may not be out of place. Most times, they don't want to be pricey, bearing in mind how price-appathy majority of Nigerians are, unless you're selling to the upper and middle class.

Rather than reducing quality due to increament in cost of production, I would prefer them slightly increasing their selling price.

Thanks for the post.....I love to eat biscuits...wow... I have never heard of Fadaella biscuits before and I know every every single biscuit in Lagos and Ogun state, when is Fadaella going to do Lagos business for us in Lagos ?

McVites Shortbread Milk Classic (btw the chocholate version was nothing speacial imo) and Jacob's Cheedar cracker are my favorite luxury biscuits.

When on a budget, I default to Beloxxy's cracker and the soda cracker and a bit of Yale which reminds me of that nostalgic classic Nasco biscuit of Yesteryear

Maybe you wanted to say Okin. Ok and Yale still stand strong. Yale is even producing different types of nice low sugar breads now and Milky and cheap chinchin. Lack of innovation and mismanagement probably killed Okin,they produced just 2 types of biscuits and didn't invest their proceeds properly by expanding into other snack products and other flavours or types of biscuits

No! It was largely the unfavourable government policy that allowed the economically stifling and unfair import of biscuits into the country that saw Okin biscuits business crumble. It is so well managed that its assets down to distribution trucks are still packed in its business premises at Ijabe, Kwara State in pristine conditions close to fourty years after the business folded up for the aforementioned reason.

If they produced the $1 standard of biscuits and luxury cookies like the US,would you buy it? Nigeria is probably one of the countries that sell biscuits for as low as 3 cents
