Earlier today, I received the leadership of NBA Nigeria at Lagos House, Marina. It was a productive engagement that reaffirmed the important role sports play in youth development and community building.

The NBA team outlined their commitment to growing basketball from the grassroots and expressed their readiness to partner with us in ways that extend far beyond the game itself. They are keen to leverage their network to attract investment, strengthen our sports infrastructure, and enhance the capacity of our coaches and technical personnel.

They are also focused on creating pathways for our young athletes by offering them opportunities for growth, exposure, and international recognition. This aligns strongly with our administration’s vision to use sports as a tool for empowerment, social development, and economic growth.

Together, we can unlock the potential of our young people and further establish Lagos as a hub for sporting excellence.

Mr Tunde Folawiyo is the son of the late Baba Adini of Nigeria, Chief Wahab Iyanda Folawiyo (one of the wealthiest Nigerians of the 1980s and 1990s). He has interests in oil and gas, electricity generation, etc.

Chiney Ogwumike is a Nigerian-American that played for the Los Angeles Sparks. She is a former vice president of the WNBA and her sister, Nneka, is currently the president of the league. She is also the host of numerous basketball programmes on TV.

The Permanent Secretary, Office of Drainage Services and Water Resources in Lagos State, Mahmood Adegbite, has said that people drilling borehole in the Lekki axis of the state is probably drinking ‘’shit water.”

While speaking at a stakeholders meeting in the state recently, Adegbite noted that contaminated boreholes in Lekki pose health risk and added that treatment of waste water would eradicate any form of disease that may arise from it.
