Early hours of yesterday morning, Faith approached Imisi in the garden for reconciliation.

She was sitting by the yellow bus, braiding her hair when Faith calmly said to her that he wanted to make peace.

He told her that in the real world, people like them would simply go their separate ways, but in the BBN house, with lockers side by side and constant proximity, hostility is exhausting.

Imisi kept silent.

Faith went further: he said he was ready to put the past behind him and even offer her an apology. He even said if she preferred, he is willing to go as far as apologising in front of the whole house, just to make things right.

Still, Imisi kept silent.

He said fine, they don’t have to be friends. He just didn’t want malice. Faith asked “if you understand me, just nod, just blink.”

Still silence.

He then brought up his missing slippers. He said he didn’t believe she took it, as a matter of fact he knows she couldn't have done that because he expects better from her.

Imisi stayed silent.

Then he asked her gently, Or Imisi, am I wrong? was it you?”

She still kept silent. *Meanwhile, we know she took and hid those slippers because Biggie himself asked her to return them in her diary session and till now she hasn’t.

A frustrated Faith finally said that the conversation was really awkward. Maybe its best he leaves.

Then Imisi nodded.

Faith laughed: “At least you’re nodding now.”

And she went silent again.

She was talking to someone about how she’s been cooking since she was seven as that’s how their mothers train them to be useful from toddlers so they won’t start learning how to cook when they are ready for marriage.
Everything about her centers around marriage and it’s not bad, if she’s not pretending.

The truth is, any discerning mind can see through her hypocrisy — pretending to care for everyone while she's really just performing for the camera. She cares for no one in that house.

This is just it, that is her true beauty. Self-confidence. A trait possessed by a lot of Igbos traditionally, and by their women specifically increasing their appeal.

When you read old, historical texts, and you hear how sought after Igbo women used to be in the past, you start to wonder what all the fuss was about, they surely couldn't have been all that. But here we see real time how much self confidence can increase your attractiveness.

Dede is certainly not the most beautiful, but virtually all the guys in that house have put her down as their number one girl largely due to her self-confidence. She beat the competition because of her fair estimation of her own worth.

Traditional Igbo societies tended to cultivate this type of value. Confidence in your ability, believe in yourself. Taken to the extreme it comes off as being boastful and arrogant, but when done right there is probably nothing more you could wish to have, especially when you have nothing else.
