A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Dominic Alancha, has raised concerns that a potential alliance between former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi could significantly weaken the ruling party’s chances in the 2027 general elections. Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday, Alancha said that if Atiku and Obi agree on a joint presidential ticket, it could erode the APC’s support base. “In 2027, the dynamics may change. If Peter Obi and Atiku align and present a united front, they could easily pull 13 to 14 million votes. That would seriously impact our chances,” he warned. Ahead of the 2027 polls, opposition leaders, including Atiku, Obi, ex-Senate President David Mark, ex-ministers Rauf Aregbesola and Rotimi Amaechi, and ex-Kaduna governor Nasir El-Rufai, on July 2, 2025, adopted the African Democratic Congress as their coalition platform to challenge President Bola Tinubu. The coalition is also relying on the combined strength of Atiku and Obi, who together polled more than 12 million votes in 2023, over four million more than Tinubu, though he was declared the winner by INEC. The APC member, who also leads the Northern Ethnic Nationality Forum, further advised Tinubu against retaining the Muslim-Muslim ticket in 2027, insisting it could erode the party’s national appeal. https://punchng.com/atiku-obi-alliance-could-threaten-2027-victory-apc-chieftain/ |

It can't because Atiku, a northerner presidency can't sell in SS, SW and NC Those who are eyeing 2031 presidency from North will also work against Atiku. Peter Obi as VP, if the Obidients followed Elrufai back then to call the position of VP as a mere commissioner post, why should the best Peter Obi holding such position to anyone. How the coalition will tell those narrations to convince people from the above regions is what I am yet to see coming. The latter ooze too much of hypocrisy to tell. |

If Atiku and PO run together in 2027, it’s game over for Tinubu's re-election! Everyone knows that. Challenging Tinubu on single tickets is a waste of time for both candidates, which is exactly what he wants |

givedemwotowoto:Reason why they want to pull obibaway to PDP or any other party. If they don't succeed ,then APC will use the ethnicity card by saying it is the turn for the south so they should not vote ADC ,but I don't think ADC need to bother about that ,hunger will show Nigerians the way to vote |

helinues:2027 is mostly a vote against Tinubu for the extreme hardship and insecurity Nigerians have witnessed after enduring hardship under Buhari's Presidency for 8 years which had his blessings. Nigerians now understand that he promoted Buhari's Presidency not because he believed in Buhari, but because he wanted to be President, no matter the cost to Nigerians. Truly, his selfish interest bankrupted millions of households. If you observed during the last election in the US, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said she was surprised that people who voted for her in NY also voted for Trump. That's what will happen in 2027. APC councilors, LGA chairmen, House of Assembly members, and Governors will see their supporters vote against Tinubu. It happened in 2023 already when Sanwo Olu supporters voted for Peter Obi |

givedemwotowoto:Are you going through hardship or are you the town crier on behalf of the bereaved? Your answer to the questions above would determine how to respond to your comments. |

helinues:That’s a very low IQ question. You can do better than that. Extreme hardship in Nigeria is a national crisis, not a personal problem, so let’s focus on the real issues. If you want to dispute the data by the NBS that 133 million Nigerians are multidimensionally poor, that’s a more intellectual discussion I’m willing to have. In that case, bring data or reasonable arguments that suggest poverty is actually declining, and the economic policies of the President that are supposedly driving this. The questions that Nigerians will ask themselves as they go on election day to vote are: 1. Did we really have to go through this, or is this suffering the result of reckless policies and poor decisions by the President and his team? 2. Did the President consider us while making these decisions? If so, what serious steps did he take to cushion the effects of rising food inflation (40%), unemployment (33%), and so on? 3. Has the President done his best to ensure that the suffering and sacrifices are not just for the poor? For example, has he cut down the cost of governance, has he fought corruption and so on? 4. Can we trust him? He defended Buhari for 8 years while Nigerians suffered, only for them to later realize it was all a lie. Can we trust him now? 5. lots more questions that need answers. So are you going to help the President answer these questions, or do you prefer to dwell on petty issues, like asking whether the President's critics eat three square meals as proof of a good economy? |

Atiku should rather support Peter Obi as a southern candidate |

givedemwotowoto:You are not going through the hardship even though you didn't answer my question directly. Now that you are town crier, how did you know all what you listed without experiencing them? Certificate from University of Hardship? |

helinues:It's like asking someone, "how did you know that Titanic sank if you weren't on the ship?" Do you see why I called your earlier question low IQ? You're trying to personalize a problem affecting over 133 million Nigerians according to NBS. So instead of dodging the issue at hand, can you help the President reasonably answer those questions? or do you want to keep debating whether people need a certificate of hardship to understand what's happening on the streets? |
