The Nigerian Immigration Service on Thursday deported 50 additional foreign nationals convicted and sentenced for cyber-terrorism and internet fraud by the Federal High Court in Lagos.

The convicted foreigners were part of the 192 Chinese and Philippine nationals arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in December 2024.

The repatriated foreign nationals include 50 Chinese and one Tunisian.

This brings the total of deported convicts to 102 in the ongoing exercise that commenced on Friday, August 15, 2025.

Cybercrimes vary depending on involvement and magnitude. EFCC didn't state any figures to strengthen their case and charges.

This is just clumsy showoff to show they are working but nothing achieved.

If Nigerians were caught in any Asian country for the same crime, they will be sentenced to many years in prison in these countries or even sentenced to death. Why are these Chinese going home?

Why not try, sentence and jail them in Nigeria...This is a slap on the wrist aswear.

How did they get in in the first place? If our immigration system is intact and all institutions working, these ones should not get into the country. We will get there one day sha, this is a step forward. At least I am hearing deportation for the first time in recent years.
