Ok, today I was out to do an oil change and decided to branch by my favorite Afghani store where I usually buy provisions when in the vicinity. Now, I came across an organic crate of egg for $16.99, 30 medium sized eggs in a crate. Now, I remembered I spoke with a friend in Lagos last week who priced a similar crate of egg at 6000Naira, Yes ! you heard me right! 6000Naira! Folks in Nigeria do not know how good they have it Living in Nigeria so next time you complain about Nigeria, remember a fresh organic crate of egg goes for N6000 and things are way cheaper in Nigeria compared to the western countries. So, there is something that should make one happy living in Nigeria I am waiting on pins and needles for the minimum wage crew.

Everything just cost since APC took over 2015 buhari and tinubu please take us back to our former economy we're tired. Before I used to buy turkey like ice fish. I hardly buy cow meat talkless of ice fish. But now to buy chicken is another level of thinking everyday ice fish it's not fair and many are still preparing to vote tinubu in again. Just imagine how a whole 16 years will be with APC regime. |

Nnamdipapa:These you peoples annoying comparisons is getting stale day by day. Very annoying. It is just like you people want to be mocking people. I believe you are the USA. Many of us live outside too. A mechanic making 25 dollar per hour in the USA can afford 2 crates comfortably. Just with 1 hour salary. A mechanic working in Nigeria even under a notable company cannot even buy half crate with 3 hours salary. Going by your stale comparison, it requires 12,000 naira to buy just 2 crates. How many mechanics earn 12,000 naira daily not to talk of hourly? Let us not even talk about civil servants. Many of them earn less than 30k monthly. I mean millions of them. That means their salaries will finish just buying 5 crates of egg! What happens to other necessities of life? Will your one day salary in the USA finish just buying 5 crates of eggs? Let us not talk about 1 month. Guy please stop. I beg you in the name of God almighty. You are mocking people. If you have spare cash, support people in Nigeria so that people can eat. People are mad hungry in that country! N.B I live extremely far away from that hellfire on earth. It is obvious President Tinubu may have damaged Nigeria beyond repair. God help that country. |

Nnamdipapa:His explanation is very clear....you can't compare apples with grapes because they have different components. Before you compare cost of things in US to Nigeria, firstly compare the per capital income or even minimum income. If a minimum hourly wage income can buy a grate of eggs in USA, you have to see if same minimum hourly rate in Nigeria can buy a crate of eggs. Minimum hourly income in naija is 70,000÷22(days)÷(40hr)= NGN79.55. Covert to USD is 5cents ![]() May God help Nigeria o. The minimum wage self no go round. Some people earn waaaay lesser. Nigeria is not hell fire, when you return make sure you return with the abroad minimum income fa. |

PUNANI01:I have my tickets for the end of the month already. Nigeria is fun, my friend. You need to learn how to survive and thrive in the system. Nigeria is overall cheaper for me from my research. |

Nnamdipapa:Interesting!🥱🥱🥱 My salary is about Naira 30,000 each month, provided I receive my pay at the end of the month. But because you discovered eggs cost Naira 6000, I should be happy that I live in Nigeria and not in the USA, where my base salary would have been something of about $2000 a month? ![]() |

Kobojunkie:How many percentage of Nigerians earn the minimum wage? You people are always quick to référence the minimum wage of 70,000, most earn more than that amount. |

You guys should stop these meaningless comparisons please. Are you mocking others or what? How much is the minimum wage there compared to Nigeria? So many civil servants still consider eggs a luxury food. Getting just 6hourss of electricity a day is considered a favour/luxury. I was at a government-approved school the other day the highest paid teacher was earning just 50k a month. Imagine when just a single create of egg is over 10% of your monthly pay. |

Kobojunkie:Take out your mortgage or rent, taxes, car insurance, home insurance, property taxes, huge utility bîls, heating and water and tell me what remains of your $2000. Most are probably gone within the first week of pay. |

| Re: What Is The Cost Of A Crate Of Egg In Your Area by Nnamdipapa(op): 6:52am On Aug 22, 2025 |
Jeon:That is super duper cheap. Also, I love that you don't have to réfrigérate the eggs which means its really organic. Here, it gets spoilt without refrigeration at a certain temperature. |

If u compare the UK with Nigeria it means u are not vast in economic matters. Currently the UK inflation is just 3.8 and Nigeria at 21.8. We don't earn ur kind of minium wage and that alone should make u understand simple economic dynamics. We also don't live in the UK to spend such an amount on eggs but in Nigeria. We earn and spend in Nigeria. |

Nnamdipapa:I pity you Sir. I wanted to come back for holidays last year and saw that the inflation is way above my budget! I mean, I fly from Denmark to Czech Republic with Easyjet which cost less than 60 euros if booked ahead. Even with the total destruction of the naira, it is still 108,000 naira. Flying from one country to another. Now Imagine flying within Denmark. Now Oga, check the price of flying from Lagos to Abuja. Within same country oo. Nigeria is not just passing through inflation. The inflation is passing through Nigeria too. Normal countries like USA sometimes have inflation. Abnormal countries like Egypt sometimes have hyperinflation. What Geographical locations like Nigeria have is what is called COMBUSTIBLE, GALLOPING, EXTRAORDINARY HYPERINFLATION! I pity you Sir! Unless you are a businessman in the USA, you will soon find out that your American minimum wage is a learner in Nigeria. Once more, I PITY YOU. |

Nnamdipapa:A lot of Nigerians working as sales boy/girls, private school teachers especially in low-income areas etc earn way less than minimum wage |

Caaz:That is very good. I think everyone should have a vegetable garden. Recently, my curiosity is drawn towards farming and seeing things grow. You can always sell excess yo your neighbors and raise extra income. |

SeraphicWind:You better pity yourself if you cannot afford simple flights to Nigeria. I got a one way ticket from Toronto to Lagos for $3,200 on Royal Air Maroc. If your earn dollars in Nigeria, have your own home with solar power, good security in a double gated estate and spend in Naira, Nigeria can be HEAVEN ON EARTH. Never make the mistake to assume everyone has the same experience in Nigeria and if you cannot afford a flight from Denmark, you might be better off in Nigeria. Africa is the next ftontier for investments opportunities as the west is getting saturated. |

Nnamdipapa:For that crate of organic eggs going for $16.99, how much is the hourly minimum wage in that country? When it comes to food, Nigeria is not cheaper in comparison to income of the official minimum wage earner of N70K as majority earn below the N70K. The attached plantains, I bought here in London for £3.....the same £3, a minimum wage earner will earn under 20mins. The items in the second picture was bought for £9.20, less than what a minimum wage earner, earns in one hour (after deductions).

Nnamdipapa:🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣Most people earn less than 70k bro. What is the percentage of public servants compared to the private sector force of the nation? I don't think they can even measure up to the number of the private school teachers alone. |

Mindlog:Minimum wage here is $15 per hour and still that egg is not as fresh as what is consumed in Nigeria. I have a huge distrust for eggs that need to be refrigerated. I get from the general store, a crate of free run eggs here is around $8.50. Its the organic that is expensive. That plantain is good, here it is around $1.20 per lb for a plantain and still not sweet like Nigerian plantain. |
