helinues:As an afterthought - yes. But your initial comment was primarily about the 2027 election, and how a reasonable amount of noise makers might end up in jail. I called you out for your equivocation on punitive law. Deal with it. |

Softmirror:Says the one who thinks ALL opinions should be predicated on facts. ![]() Have you never heard the phrase "in my opinion"? Do you understand the difference between what is generally considered a fact and what an opinion is? Whatever happened to the standards of discourse on Nairaland? |

Softmirror: helinues: christistruth01: Jakumo:One thing you all have in common is the fact that you all supported the government in power that brought this law, so you guys should all enjoy what you supported, you think we who were against this government didn't know why we were seriously against this government coming into power, maybe you thought it was tribal, very far from that... I told you all one thing during and after the election "time will reveal the truth" and I'm here saying it again "time will still reveal more", and I also kept on telling you guys "you guys don't know who you are dealing with" but time will still reveal it to you people.... |

DaddyJapan:Read your own comment again. It was about facts and opinions. DaddyJapan:So that when someone calls the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria a drug lord and he is being apprehended by the Nigerian government, such persons should be able to back their speech with facts because it won't just be considered as an opinion just for the sake of opinion in the name of freedom of speech. Brendaniel:As a firm believer in the existentialist presumption that the outcome of elections is to a large extent "pre-ordained" in most Third World nations, I have never in my life participated in any voting process anywhere in the world. As such I would need to conduct a Google search to remind myself which political party is currently in power in Nigeria. That said, I do presume that electoral democracy respects the right of commentators to air their views on current events without fear of arrest or persecution, PROVIDED THAT violence and ethnic or religious unrest are not being advocated in the course of exercising the right to free speech. |

Jakumo:I agree with you. I'm sure you've heard the saying, 'If you want to hide something from a Black person, put it in a book'. Our people do not have a culture of reading, and even when they do read, most seem unable to discern because they are engrossed in 'whataboutism' or their parochial interests. The proposed and passed legislation is fraught with dangerous pitfalls set up by our unscrupulous politicians to stifle legitimate dissent. I sought to address those who are too blind to see through these perilous plans in my submission. |

The Nigerian Government have proven to be one with less sensitivity They would leave burning issues and deliberately on trivial matters The Social media is based mostly on controversies, it sells faster. So if they actually want to take people off it, you need to provide them with good jobs Any other thing na wash |

Why have they not arrested Malam El'rufia? Has this law been suspended? All those in favour of this law will cry in the future when they are out of government. This is a fact. |
