Because the school proprietor are too cunny. I was among the parent that stopped end of the year party because the owner of the school will take 70 percent of the contributions . Teachers don't get anything. Very shady beings. uote author=Softmirror post=136536413]Why are the schools not paying the minimum wage which I am sure the owners of these schools would be among the once shouting that #70,000 by this administration is too small. Lol 😂[/quote] |

So far so good, some people here has been posting how some of us don’t know what we are doing, saying there are many ways to make money through teaching and I have been patiently reading through to see if any of them would actually tell us how, but none have been able to do so. Many of us really want to make it through teaching because we see it as a hobby buh when your hubby can’t cater for you and your intending family, what else do you do? |

Hardeybohwarley:How do you cope with such amount ? I once had a similar job years ago for 30k and i was living with my family. The money wasn't even enough. |
| Re: Guys, Leave Teaching Jobs For Ladies by dalass(f): 10:07am On Aug 22, 2025 |
Truvelisback:So, ladies and married women don't need money ba? That 30k cannot do anything for even a secondary school leaver to eat in a month without paying any other bill. Speak for yourself because these days, small money cannot feed anyone, transportation, school fees, accommodations, utilities and taxes is so high that 300,000k per month no dey reach not to talk of 30k! ![]() |

yemre:Thank you immensely for your gracious response. I truly appreciate. I wish I can get more response and insights from here. Allom me to be more contextual. I'm a graduate of agricultural and bio resource engineering. In Kaduna, I'm hoping to work and serve in an agro-allied industry that deals on animal feed production and located very close to my place of residence. I feel the experience there will boost my career compare to working and teaching in a school assigned to me by the NYSC. Just like you rightly pointed out going out there may give me some invaluable experience. Is it something I'll gain by just teaching in a private school? You know how Nigeria is and how it's going, is it prudent to leave one's life to fate in the Nigerian economy? Pls forgive my line of reasoning |

Men should leave teaching job and be replaced with... Whereas in my daughter's school, the only male staff I know are the gateman, driver, a part-time music teacher. And in the last PTA meeting, a parent said some men should be employed in the school, just to balance the equation. Lol Na una sabi Tomorrow now, you will blame women who take up such low-paying jobs for not being able to pay their own bills, not contributing in relationships/marriage, billing their boyfriends or spouses...when we should be clamouring for better pay across board, as someone mentioned earlier. |

vislabraye:In one word: tough. It was very tough living with it, but it's better than doing nothing. It led to a cycle of borrowing from friends and family. |

| Re: Guys, Leave Teaching Jobs For Ladies by JetApartment: 12:30pm On Aug 22, 2025 |
Truvelisback: Hardeybohwarley:It all depends on the Private school ooo, some private schools pay as high as 400k per month and the teachers earn almost a million monthly doing home lessons for students. |

| Re: Guys, Leave Teaching Jobs For Ladies by mctech(m): 1:45pm On Aug 22, 2025 |
Teaching is a job nobody wants to do any longer in Nigeria. Even qualified teachers ( NCE, B. Ed) now opt for factory jobs. This results in very low quality of education in most schools. To give your children good education now, they need to go to standard schools which are expensive, a luxury many parents can't afford due to low-paying jobs. |
| Re: Guys, Leave Teaching Jobs For Ladies by Hardeybohwarley(m): 2:58pm On Aug 22, 2025 |
Zocalite:Your mention was insulting to say the least. What I study and when I grad are not your business as well. You can always move on if you don't have positive opinion to make. |

Very true. I can relate. I tendered my resignation back then to go huzzle in the streets. I never regretted that action ever since. As a man, it won't take you nowhere. |
| Re: Guys, Leave Teaching Jobs For Ladies by Imnaknus: 7:14pm On Aug 22, 2025 |
Depends on where you’re positioned, bro. Was raking in 7-10k/hour for private home lessons alone far back 2022. I don’t know what the rates are now. Again, it depends on where you teach! |
| Re: Guys, Leave Teaching Jobs For Ladies by Goodlady(f): 7:43am On Aug 23, 2025 |
jayboy112233:I dare you that such schools no reach up ton20 in the whole of Nigeria. Teachers earning up to N500K per month? Maybe you wan say per year cos that one is realistic. Truvelisback come and see facts o. |

I currently teach in private school earning 45k. It is 3 years of my stay in the school without any savings. The salary goes into food stuff. Just recently when i went to market I realized that my salary can't get me a decent cloth. Still looking for money that i will use to get cloth before resumption. In summary teaching job will get you no where . |
| Re: Guys, Leave Teaching Jobs For Ladies by Nobody: 10:25am On Aug 23, 2025 |
doublechief96:My best advise is for you to relocate and look for other jobs elsewhere. I’m earning 6 figures as a single man and it isn’t enough and sometimes I wonder how people living with your kind of salary cope while still trying to live fine. Just make the decision Procrastination and fear is the greatest enemy. One thing I love about myself while growing up was I was never afraid of leaving even in relationships. Na now I Dey simp cos boy don Dey grow😁 Then if you mess up, I excommunicate you. So don’t be afraid to leave and try elsewhere. I’m still happy I was able to make the decision. I wasted 5 years of my life teaching and I had nothing to show. I haven’t achieved all I wanted to I’m better than then and I’m living better than then. So make the decision. |
