Nnamdipapa:And you earn how much per month? 70,000/30 = #2,333 per day. That's the highest pay in the country. Here you need about 3 days salary to buy one crate of eggs. I know about someone in Canada earning $100 daily. 100/16.99 = 5.89 ie more than 5 crates with one day wage and that's not the only job the person does. Nigeria is not working at least for now, period. |

Nnamdipapa:It may be cheaper for you to buy the same eggs in Nigeria because you live abroad and you earn in dollars. These same eggs are not cheaper to most Nigerians. You can look at it from this angle. I don't know the state you live in. If you live in the states, the minimum wage in most states now is $15 or over. And this means that what you make in one hour can buy a crate of eggs. Now let's come to Nigeria, where the minimum salary in most states is 70k naira. If an employee works an average of 40 hours a week, this will translate to 160 hours a month. The hourly rate will be 70000 / 160 = N437.5. An employee who is earning a minimum wage in Nigeria will need to work for 14 hours (about 2 days) just to make 6000 naira to buy a crate of eggs. |

Ah, posterissimo! Thy pontification on ova economics is nothing but a verbal somersault in fiscal kindergartenism! How canst thou, in Olympian ignorance, juxtapose a Yankee crate of ovum with a Naija crate, whilst amputating the brutal reality that the Nigerian minimum wage is still wobbling in the vegetative limbo of ₦30,000 per mensem? In Uncle Sam’s Babylon, a wage slave earns in dollars, hence the $16.99 crate is but a negligible hiccup on his gastronomical itinerary. But in Naija, where a proletarian must first wrestle with kerosene kerfuffle, garri gallops, and petroleum palpitations, that same ₦6000 crate is an economic Waterloo! Thy analysis, therefore, is a cacophonous jamboree of intellectual kwashiorkor, a grandiloquent masquerade dancing naked in the marketplace of logic! |

Dotherightthing:By what ratio is the house rent over there higher than that of Nigeria? Let's compare ratio of minimum wage to the ratio of house rent , that is the only way to which is better. In Nigeria, it 318 naira per hour which is 0.212 dollars per hour, meanwhile an hour wage in the US is $15. That is 0.212:15 not even 1:15 ooo . Let have your average house rent in the US let's compare to that of Nigeria. It will take someone in Nigeria 18 good hours of labour to buy a create of egg while it will take someone doing the same job in the US less than 2 hours of labour to buy a crate of eggs . |

Peacecore:You've just done what I call wuruwuru to the answer . Using the minimum wage in Nigeria and then turning around using one of the highest pay in forign country. If you're earning minimum wage in 9ja, you have no business buying a crate of eggs, even while growing up in the late 80s and early 90s, we only ate eggs on special days not all the time. Just like someone earning $8 or $15 an hour has no business buying organic eggs for $16.99, there are options as low as $6, trust me if you are comparing egg cost, make sure to compare housing and healthcare cost too, na then you go know say una dey enjoy for 9ja ![]() Nigeria is not working because the people just like the government are clueless! |

Nnamdipapa:Mtchw this comparison is myopic. How much will they pay a construction worker for a days job in America compared to that of Nigerian worker. Can a construction worker in America buy a crate of egg with his daily income? If he can then he is better. Because an average construction worker in Nigeria can't buy a crate of egg with his daily income. |

Nnamdipapa:A minimum wage where you are is $15 per hour, yet you are comparing it to a place that 6k for that create of eggs is someone 2 or 3 days wages. Besides, a creat of eggs I am seeing in your picture is more than 30 pieces they sell here. If an hour minimum wage could be enough to buy a crate of eggs, it mean you can literally buy all your food stuffs for a whole month with just 5 days wages. Please don't ever compare Nigeria with any other place on earth again. The country is gone, only a true federalism or total disintegration can put us on the path of development. With new country or regional autonomy, the new constitution of each region/country would be thoroughly examine carefully to align with 21st century society. |
