These you peoples annoying comparisons is getting stale day by day. Very annoying.

It is just like you people want to be mocking people.

I believe you are the USA. Many of us live outside too.

A mechanic making 25 dollar per hour in the USA can afford 2 crates comfortably. Just with 1 hour salary.

A mechanic working in Nigeria even under a notable company cannot even buy half crate with 3 hours salary.

Going by your stale comparison, it requires 12,000 naira to buy just 2 crates. How many mechanics earn 12,000 naira daily not to talk of hourly?

Let us not even talk about civil servants. Many of them earn less than 30k monthly. I mean millions of them.

That means their salaries will finish just buying 5 crates of egg!

What happens to other necessities of life?

Will your one day salary in the USA finish just buying 5 crates of eggs? Let us not talk about 1 month.

Guy please stop. I beg you in the name of God almighty. You are mocking people.

If you have spare cash, support people in Nigeria so that people can eat.

People are mad hungry in that country!

1 month rent in the USA is some people's annual rent in nigeria...

Here in the UK for example....
U earn 2k a month...
Rent is 1k per month
Council tax is maybe 150
Energy another 150
U pay for insurance (if u drive) and pay for transportation If u don't
Then you buy food
U pay for your broadband
U pay for your cell provider or your cell phone subscription
U pay for credit cards
U pay for phone contract
U still get to buy some personal items...
Now this is assuming you don't have a family

Ask yourself... Why do you think alot of people pay debts. Loans and credit cards until they die??

Yes people earn more in the USA but life is more expensive in that country than Nigeria...
10m can help u as a single man survive in nigeria for a year... Convert it to dollars.... It won't survive u for 6 months
Less than 1% of Nigerian bank account owners have more than N500K in their accounts, where is the single man getting the N10m from?

Ok, today I was out to do an oil change and decided to branch by my favorite Afghani store where I usually buy provisions when in the vicinity. Now, I came across an organic crate of egg for $16.99, 30 medium sized eggs in a crate.
Now, I remembered I spoke with a friend in Lagos last week who priced a similar crate of egg at 6000Naira, Yes ! you heard me right! 6000Naira! Folks in Nigeria do not know how good they have it Living in Nigeria so next time you complain about Nigeria, remember a fresh organic crate of egg goes for N6000 and things are way cheaper in Nigeria compared to the western countries.

So, there is something that should make one happy living in Nigeria
I am waiting on pins and needles for the minimum wage crew.
..Kuku buy a container load of the eggs now and cargo to USA.

It's not about what you pay for one month rent, it's about what you earn and what u can afford. It's also not about you earning abroad and calculating your bills in naira. It's about the average people that earn in Nigeria and what that income can do for them in Nigeria

How many percentage of Nigerians earn the minimum wage? You people are always quick to référence the minimum wage of 70,000, most earn more than that amount.
How many persons earn above the minimum wage

Private schools for example, na by connection you go take see private schools paying their teachers 100plus

More than 60% of the working force in Nigeria earn less than 100k monthly

More than half of the citizens that should be working are jobless and relying on menial jobs

So what is your point here?

A crate of egg for $16?! Do you know what that means to an average American.

Right at my backyard in Nigeria is a poultry where i can get the same crate of organic eggs for N5,000. Sometimes for even less.

Nigeria is still very cheap. Very few people in Southern Nigeria suffer real hunger.

You've just done what I call wuruwuru to the answer grin. Using the minimum wage in Nigeria and then turning around using one of the highest pay in forign country. If you're earning minimum wage in 9ja, you have no business buying a crate of eggs, even while growing up in the late 80s and early 90s, we only ate eggs on special days not all the time. Just like someone earning $8 or $15 an hour has no business buying organic eggs for $16.99, there are options as low as $6, trust me if you are comparing egg cost, make sure to compare housing and healthcare cost too, na then you go know say una dey enjoy for 9ja grin grin

Nigeria is not working because the people just like the government are clueless!
Though I understand where you are coming from and I know that poverty dealt a higher and serious blow to you while growing which is evident in this abnormal analysis you made . To think that you are postulating that eggs which is a common stable food and should form a nutritional diet of every child should only be reserved for special days is not only shallow but a miguided statement in all ramifications. Infact, the WHO recommended one egg per day for every child but in your attempt to support what is not supportable and to show that you probably grew up in a refugee camp you have decided to say eggs should only be eaten on special days like you did and even attach some luxury living to eating eggs!!!
If minimum wage cannot make someone to afford eggs then what else would be affordable to the person , is it rice which is a no go area because a bag is 80k, beans no go area too or potatoes.
You people should not bring your refugee camp mindset to this forum and allow people to live their lives in peace instead of gaslighting them unnecessarily in a bid to make Nigeria and government look ok. I don't blame you but the fellow that brought this stupid comparison to this forum in the first place.

I pity you Sir. I wanted to come back for holidays last year and saw that the inflation is way above my budget!

I mean, I fly from Denmark to Czech Republic with Easyjet which cost less than 60 euros if booked ahead. Even with the total destruction of the naira, it is still 108,000 naira. Flying from one country to another. Imagine flying within Denmark.

Now Oga, check the price of flying from Lagos to Abuja. Within same country oo.

Nigeria is not just passing through inflation. The inflation is passing through Nigeria too.

Normal countries like USA sometimes have inflation. Abnormal countries like Egypt sometimes have hyperinflation.

What Geographical locations like Nigeria have is what is called COMBUSTIBLE, GALLOPING, EXTRAORDINARY HYPERINFLATION!

I pity you Sir!

Unless you are a businessman in the USA, you will soon find out that your American minimum wage is a learner in Nigeria.

Once more, I PITY YOU.

His explanation is very clear....you can't compare apples with grapes because they have different components. Before you compare cost of things in US to Nigeria, firstly compare the per capital income or even minimum income. If a minimum hourly wage income can buy a grate of eggs in USA, you have to see if same minimum hourly rate in Nigeria can buy a crate of eggs.

Minimum hourly income in naija is 70,000÷22(days)÷(40hr)= NGN79.55. Covert to USD is 5cents grin

May God help Nigeria o. The minimum wage self no go round. Some people earn waaaay lesser.

Nigeria is not hell fire, when you return make sure you return with the abroad minimum income fa.

I usually buy a crate of eggs every four days. Two days ago, my wife told me she bought a crate of very large eggs for 6,500. But when I checked them, I noticed they weren’t much bigger than the ones she normally buys for 5,600. So, I told her to continue buying from the usual place at 5,600.

Just imagine how a whole 16 years will be with APC regime.
Not as if we are happy about the current situation of Nigeria, but when u look at the options of candidates contesting for the upcoming election u will know Tinubu is the best among them. May God bless my country Nigeria. 🙏

Many Nigerians just have what is called PERSECUTION COMPLEX. Many Nigerians can buy 2 crates of egg with one hours wages. Anytime I fix my car it is fixed under one hour and the charge is like 20k sometimes. That's 3 crates of egg in an hour. When Uber carries me after a 30 minute journey he gets like 8k. That's one crate of egg in less than an hour

Nigeria is not working because the people just like the government are clueless!
And you saw me used the highest pay in the country as well. How much is a self-con here in Nigeria? Not less than 250k depending on the State. How much is Artemeter? Not less than 2k depending on brand.
A lucky civil servant that earns 70k per month can acquire a total of 70k × 12 = 840k after tax and rate deduction you'll have about 750k
750-250 = 500k. That's just for housing alone
We don't have light here, so you need Generator. A litre of Fuel is averagely #900( you don't need this out there).
Let's say you use 1litee daily you're spending 900×365 = 328.5k.
500k-328.5k = 171.5k.
We have not talked of feeding, healthcare or even paying NEPA bills.

For out there; let's say you earn $1.2k after taxes and rates monthly. One year is 1.2×12= $14.4k
You only have healthcare, and housing to spend on as analysed above. No money on power.
You were left with 171.5k
So how much is rent out there?
Do the deduction.
