And you saw me used the highest pay in the country as well. How much is a self-con here in Nigeria? Not less than 250k depending on the State. How much is Artemeter? Not less than 2k depending on brand.
A lucky civil servant that earns 70k per month can acquire a total of 70k × 12 = 840k after tax and rate deduction you'll have about 750k
750-250 = 500k. That's just for housing alone
We don't have light here, so you need Generator. A litre of Fuel is averagely #900( you don't need this out there).
Let's say you use 1litee daily you're spending 900×365 = 328.5k.
500k-328.5k = 171.5k.
We have not talked of feeding, healthcare or even paying NEPA bills.

For out there; let's say you earn $1.2k after taxes and rates monthly. One year is 1.2×12= $14.4k
You only have healthcare, and housing to spend on as analysed above. No money on power.
You were left with 171.5k
So how much is rent out there?
Do the deduction.
You're a comedian! A one bedroom apartment costs monthly minimum of $800 in the USA, health insurance is about $200 a month, electricity is about $100 a month, water, sewage and trash is about another $100 a month. Food is about $150 a month if you're frugal, let's not talk about other bills like phone, internet, car insurance and misc, all that could cost another $200 to $300. Looking at all these, you really think a minimum wage worker in the US is enjoying or balling enough to be able to afford $16 eggs? COMEDY grin grin

Which country are you in that your egg spoils without refrigeration.
In Canada you may or may not put them in the refrigerator and they wont spoil.
They are supposed to put egg in the fridge at 4°C it is standard practice.
ISO SOP number I cant remember again.
Nigerians like OP always loves deceiving themselves, being hypocritical.

Next thing they will say the food that people are eating abroad is junk foods. If it were junk why can't they see it Nigeria to buy? And if available why is it so expensive beyond reach of average Nigerians..

They just like consoling and fooling themselves in their sufferings. For example Indomine of 3k now went to 18k 🙀🙀 now 15k I think.

And you believe the entire 40k you paid him is for workmanship?
All I’m trying to say is yes, things are still cheap in Nigeria . The problem is that most people try to live above their means.

So you can see , he boldly stated his workmanship as 40k and I was not the only one there for the day there’s a lot of people there waiting to be serviced.

Some luuuunattics will say the minimum wage is US is higher as if house rent and healthcare and other essentials are NOT way higher in the US... smiley

A crate of egg is NGN5,000 where I am by the way.
Rent is higher
Healthcare is higher
Every other service and product consumed is higher
But guess other things that are higher,
-value for service received
-savings and investment portfolio
You are certainly the real lunatic here

Ok, today I was out to do an oil change and decided to branch by my favorite Afghani store where I usually buy provisions when in the vicinity. Now, I came across an organic crate of egg for $16.99, 30 medium sized eggs in a crate.
Now, I remembered I spoke with a friend in Lagos last week who priced a similar crate of egg at 6000Naira, Yes ! you heard me right! 6000Naira! Folks in Nigeria do not know how good they have it Living in Nigeria so next time you complain about Nigeria, remember a fresh organic crate of egg goes for N6000 and things are way cheaper in Nigeria compared to the western countries.

So, there is something that should make one happy living in Nigeria
I am waiting on pins and needles for the minimum wage crew.
A crate of organic eggs is cheaper in Nigeria than in the United States, where you reside, because our farming and certification systems in Nigeria are far less developed than in the United States, and because the production of organic eggs by Nigerian poultry farmers here does not undergo the same strict standards and costs as in the United States, resulting in lower prices due to a lack of egg production regulation in Nigeria.

The average American can earn more than $500 in a month which is 769 thousand naira upwards. How many people in Nigeria even earns up to 200 thousand naira per month?
Stop this nonsense 😡😡 angry angry
This topic is over flogged but I just had to wade into this.

$500 purchasing power in the United States is not the same with N769 thousand in Nigeria.

In the USA, you earn in dollars and spend your dollars there. In Nigeria, you earn your naira and spend it here.

Your argument only makes sense if every dollar earned in the United States is being spent here in Nigeria in foreign exchange (naira).

N769, 000 will give you more purchasing power in Nigeria than $500 will give you in the United States.

Even as bad as the economy is, N200, 000 to N300,000 monthly as salary in less expensive cities or town will earn you better living in Nigeria than $1000 monthly in the United States not to talk of N700, 000 plus.

Mostly, in American cities, even the average $1500 monthly ain't enough for a family of 2 or 3 and that's why it's often referenced that they do additional one or two jobs to keep afloat.

Nevertheless, they abroad have advantages of more open jobs due to high industrialization, and credit system economy, but stop comparing purchasing power of low dollar amount and high naira rate.

Stop comparing a country with £13/hr minimum wage to £31/month minimum wage.

The day I go get the grace to cut off Nigeria and persistent foolery, I will be so happy.

Even people that have travelled, instead of thinking of how to grow and excel, poverty mentality from Nigeria is still holding strong.
Oga, stop your arrogance, there is a reason for the saying, "who no go, no go know".

So you think Nigerians that have gone ahead of you are foolish and stvpid! bá? Eh?

In all your doings, pray for grace and mercy, come back am up with Self-discipline and yet it still doesn't guarantee you outstanding success, but it's just the better way to go if you are hustling legit.

Those who have gone ahead of you had better plans, but oyinbo system is a master trickster that outsmarted them.

So be humble, focus, pray and discipline yourself when you travel since you have a goal, not to be bashing your seniors in a terrain that you are yet to step your foot on.

These you peoples annoying comparisons is getting stale day by day. Very annoying.

It is just like you people want to be mocking people.

I believe you are the USA. Many of us live outside too.

A mechanic making 25 dollar per hour in the USA can afford 2 crates comfortably. Just with 1 hour salary.

A mechanic working in Nigeria even under a notable company cannot even buy half crate with 3 hours salary.

Going by your stale comparison, it requires 12,000 naira to buy just 2 crates. How many mechanics earn 12,000 naira daily not to talk of hourly?

Let us not even talk about civil servants. Many of them earn less than 30k monthly. I mean millions of them.

That means their salaries will finish just buying 5 crates of egg!

What happens to other necessities of life?

Will your one day salary in the USA finish just buying 5 crates of eggs? Let us not talk about 1 month.

Guy please stop. I beg you in the name of God almighty. You are mocking people.

If you have spare cash, support people in Nigeria so that people can eat.

People are mad hungry in that country!

A secondary school teacher earning 30k/monthly earns 30000/22= #1,363 per day that means that you need about 5days work to buy a crate of egg.
I'm using 70k wage. Which is even high considering many states haven't implemented.

Honestly, when I see such comparisons, I consider the person to be an illite.rate. Nothing else.

It's only an illiter.ate that conducts such comparisons and if you must compare, you compare to like countries, not the US or UK. Nigeria to Indonesia or India or Brazil or Vietnam.

How many people get 6k a day in Nigeria? Out of 200m, only 5m can boast of 6k per day. However, where ever you see egg of 16$, average man in that country earns above 20$ per day.

However, my problem in Nigeria is not food, we have un-harvested abundance of food. I remember growing up, I eat egg every day for free. We eat chicken at will, they were plenty. Whatever happened is what no one can explain.

In Nigeria, an average man is sad. If not for buzz and bazz, and all these big nyashes... Nothing good about Nigeria again.

The truth of the matter is that skill job is the new normal. I can’t remember where my degree is right now I practically live on my skill . Certain degrees are losing global acceptability and the earlier Nigerians understand that the better for them.

No matter how bad the economy is traders and artisans complain a lot less than office workers.

Relatively at ₦6000,a crate of egg is far more expensive than the $16 those in America are buying.
At 6k that is almost 10% of minimum wage in Nigeria while at $16,that is less than 1% of the least wage earner in the US
They indeed make stupid comparisons

His explanation is very clear....you can't compare apples with grapes because they have different components. Before you compare cost of things in US to Nigeria, firstly compare the per capital income or even minimum income. If a minimum hourly wage income can buy a grate of eggs in USA, you have to see if same minimum hourly rate in Nigeria can buy a crate of eggs.

Minimum hourly income in naija is 70,000÷22(days)÷(40hr)= NGN79.55. Covert to USD is 5cents grin

May God help Nigeria o. The minimum wage self no go round. Some people earn waaaay lesser.

Nigeria is not hell fire, when you return make sure you return with the abroad minimum income fa.
And that's just for those who earn up to 70k. A lot of people earn less than that, more earn half of it
