I've also explored Turkey. In 2023 I had up to 30 ducks at one time.
I'm currently planning to suspend this aspect as I'm restructuring the farm.

Picture one is of the last remaining turkeys as of two weeks ago. As of today 22/08/2025, some meat of the white male at the back that is not well seen is current in the freezer. The live weight at slaughter was 6kg. The other 4 are still on the farm. The white male one in front about 4 years old and last time it was weighed about 2 years ago it was 7kg.

Following are 2023 picture of birds.

1. Newly hatched noiler birds along with 2 local chickens (the local chicks are the black).
2. Comparison of size between day old noiler and day old local chickens
3. Noiler birds, turkey & Noiler/Broiler hybrid (hybrids are the pure white).
4. Noiler birds, turkey & Noiler/Broiler hybrid (hybrids are the pure white).

I've also explored broiler chickens and I'll still go back to it after my restructuring.

1. Brooding with gas
2. Brooding with charcoal
3. Young broilers
4. Almost due broilers

Re: My Little Farming Adventure In Picutures by safarifarms(op):
I had also explored pepper.

1. Application of soil pesticide after seeding
2. Covering to reduce cold and enhance germination
3. Shombo extracted seeds seedlings & Habanero pepper.
4. Netting to reduce insect pest.

Looks like Nairaland sets a limit to number of pictures that can be uploaded in a day. The above pictures were attached but nairaland won't attach them. I'll try again tomorrow and keep updating the thread.

On one occasion the boy planted cucumber in December but didn’t water. 4 days after I called to find out about the cucumber and he said they had not germinated. I was surprised and confused. Then I asked him if he’d watered after planting and he said no. I couldn’t believe my ears. The last batch that I planted along with him as example in September or so was watered after plating even though we were in the rainy season, but this guy planted in December and didn’t bother to water. After my expression of disappointment with him he told me he will water that day and tried to assure me that they would still germinate. The end result was about 10% germination.

I want to share my little farming experience through pictures. I had initially wanted to make it a sort of documentary detailing my journey but I know I won't have the time to do proper justice to it. So I decided to share pictures instead and maybe add little description to them.

This journey has taken me through lots of paid trainings (physical onsite/hands-on & virtual online classes) and also self-learning from personal researches and online videos etc. While profit is ultimately at mind, what has really driven me more is raw passion.

I’ll be posting a backlog of events starting from as far back as 2016/2017 or there about up to present date and hopefully I’ll continue to share my journey updates from time to time as I’m able to spare the time to do so.

I'll start with my 2017 cultivation of cassava, corn, watermelon and fluted pumpkin.

Following pictures are from the 1st land I'd acquired in 2016 for farming but later sold it in 2022.
Well done 👍. You have really done well.
I think we can do a lot together considering where I work.
I'm sending you a dm now

Having problem again with uploading pictures.
I will upload but pictures don't get attached.

Sometimes it gets attached after multiple attempts.

1. Some fruits
2. Customer washing fruits before bagging.
3 & 4. The disease challenge I later had that I wasn't able to find solution to.
Baes food is ready... Different sizes 😎

Do you have intentions planting a legume crop in the nearest future because I can see it's missing in this documentary.

You are so funny.

By the way it's not like I have all these things available today. They are just things I'd explored and taken a pause on most as I was trying to find what works best for me.

I had a little encounter with them in my 1st year but it wasn't something serious. There is a cattle camp within the village my farm is.
However, the village later banned them from night movement and most atrocities stopped as they usually do most of those wickedness at night when no one is there to see them.

I don't actually have some of these things right now on the farm. I'd been experimenting and trying to find what works for me and I'm now restructuring/strategizing. However I'll be looking forward to your DM to see what can be possible.

I'm not yet done with the thread. I still have lots of pictures to post but nairaland seems to have a restriction on the number of pictures that can be posted in a day. I have a few trees like;

Palm
Coconut
Jackfruit
Avocado
Quava
Pawpaw
Mango
Bush Mango
Apple
Different citruses (like Orange, Grape, Tangelo etc)

Recently planted about 30 cocoa stands

There is plantain and banana etc. I'm sure I've missed out one or two.

If you have reasonable amount of money and you are ready to move away at least a bit from town, then you should be able to acquire land that is better priced. The farther away from town, the cheaper. But if too far, you may incur cost in selling your goods as some buyers may not be willing to come to your site and you'll now have to transport your goods to town unless you are operating on a very large scale and have bulk buyers.

That's interesting. How long did it take your Bush mango to begin fruiting? I'm interested about the bush mango particularly, and what species did you plant, is it hybrid seedlings or grafted?
