It's calculated strictly by holdings in public companies aka Stock Market, thats why Adenuga was not there for a long time until his companies went public.

This top 10 list used to be dominated by South Africans before. Now we have more Nigerians.

Money is not something that can be hidden because it is for spending.If you have money,the world will know just because of the way you spend it.
Technology has made it possible for Forbes,Bloomberg etc to determine the richest in the world especially through your assets etc.

It may be natural that because the third world has weak institutions one may see it more here, or more openly here, but don' be decieved, it happens everywhere to varying degrees. The advanced European simply has evolved more sophisticated ways around things. If a US President happens to have $1 Trillion, believe you me, not only will nothing ever be heard of it, but the layers and smokescreens will be enough to confuse Satan himself.

We are talking of real and not thief billionaires.

I'm tired of this " some people have money but it's not verifiable or don't want to show it" argument.

If you can't show it ,it's not pure .Therefore not your wealth.

Dangote can wake up and sell his holdings in his businesses . Your imaginary "he's rich but can't show his wealth" doesn't have the wealth stored in his or her name ,can't sell it and can't benefit directly from the proceeds . It's useless.


Prime example is what happened with Aluko and Diezeani. He was a front from Diezeani after her time in government ,he absconded with the money . The money he kept for her is not in her name ,there was nothing she could do.


If you cannot declare your wealth no be you get am .
