TaminaliaCatapa:If you were capable of critical thinking you would understand the concept of PPP and the economy does not run in dollars. Most governments have 3-4x previous allocations in Naira but most expenses are local and in Naira meaning the money they are getting has more pichasing power. If we were taking the increased Naira and spending it abroad then you would be right but in Nigeria we spend Naira. It’s about the purchasing power of the Naira in the a Nigerian economy. For example, wages which is almost half of recurrent expenditure of most states has not doubled (the only people with double wages are minimum wage earners of which there are actually only a few relative to overall govt payroll). yet their revenue has tripled. Again price of cement has doubled but revenue has more than tripled in Naira which means we are getting more value. So Mr Critical thinking Mathematician, this is a Naira economy! |

helinues:Stop talking rubbish. Na ur papa been dey do the subsidy at #700.That was the price on the street so it was the true value. SW president came and destroyed the economy via looting that is why it is #1500.The subsidy was the ones sold at #450 by cbn He is borrowing and selling bond to window dress the reserve and u are celebrating reserve to be 41 billion. If the reserve has grown organically to #41 billion. You wil see naira appreciating against the dollars. They are using stability to decieve those who don't know the working of economics. The government has not been able to attract enough FDI since it came 2 yrs now. FPI is hot money and does not really do much because it could leave anytime too |

casualobserver:But think, Nigeria is a consuming nation. Can Nigeria produce pencil? Everything is imported and guess what? Nobody gets paid in Naira when you import the ordinary air you breathe |

TaminaliaCatapa:Take your L and move on. Stop digging. Nigeria’s total imports in 2024 was $40B. That’s Less than 10% of the economy using 2024 GDP or 15% of the economy using rebased GDP. Either way it means most expenditure 85-90% is in Naira, domestic and not fully correlated with the movement of the Naira/ usd . Most of the economy is agric and services, for example the only component of agric that is affected by the dollar is Fuel. fuel is a small component of the cost of produce so fluctuations in Naira don’t correlate 1:1 to the price of agric products. GDP in USD is only meant for use in international comparisons. Precisely because it is not a true reflection is why GDP PPP was introduced because the purchasing power of a dollar is different in different countries. When assessing a local economy you use its local currency. Germans don’t assesses the German economy in dollars. Naira was 1650 a few months ago, today it is 1530, has our GDP suddenly gone up 8% simply because the Naira appreciated? Is the country you are in feel like a country with 8% growth? That alone should inform you of the error in a Nigerian assessing the performance of the Nigerian economy in anything other than Naira. You you lost the argument……Stop digging. All you are doing is proving you are not knowledgeable! |

TaminaliaCatapa:The Governors receiving the allocation though, knows that they have never had it this good, more projects in states and local government including Abuja than ever before, all with the lowest allocation in history , Tinubu must be a magician. He is also paying down debts and meeting our Nation's financial commitments. THE MAGIC IS REAL |

You should have asked these sensible questions without going through the avoidable stress you gave yourself: Under Tinubu, why are the govs paying #70,000- #85,000 easily without owing shishi but were owing up to 20-40 months salaries when you said dollar was lower? Why are the govs paying their debts even some up to 85% while they were always borrowing when you said dollar was lower? Why are the govs executing projects right and left without borrowing and doing better than when you said dollar was lower? Why was the FG able to pay all IMF DEBTS off and not able to when you said dollar was lower? Will you prefer going back to when govts couldn't pay workers mere #18,000,#30000? At least we should give kudos to our govt when they do our positive wishes and knock them when they are in the negative. All courtesy of President Tinubu,no other Nigerian President dead or alive, has ever done all of these. Apart from the hardship (we can see that it is easing slowly) which happened because of the fuel and FX subsidies removal,President Tinubu has given more than any Nigerian previous govts within 2 years and I believe, just like other sane Nigerians, that he will do more. He will surely win easily in 2027 now. Coupled with massive ongoing infrastructural development, these are what he has given Nigerians in just 2 years... NELFUND. CONSUMER CREDIT SCHEME. KIDNEY DIALYSIS almost free treatment. (Haemodialysis is expensive, costing approximately N150,000:00 to N250,000:00 every month excluding Erythropoietin injections weekly) Nigeria Technical institutions are free. They live in school free. They eat free food. They even collect #22,500 every month...so you think these students, their families, friends etc will allow you to vote out Tinubu because of your myopic views? Dey play! Old pensioners get free medical treatment in Nigeria. Nigeria doesn't owe IMF shishi. Tinubu has paid all. Nigeria has best tech city (Lagos) in the world 2025. |
