Why not then wait for 8 years and see God's wonders through Tinubu. At least you have seen the reserve grown in two years to 41b dollars.

Tinubu till 2031.
No that is not growth. Wait small u go seee say the thing go fall.

Obj was adding like 5 billion per year.

Tinubu should have added like 15 to 20 given the fact that he doesn't pay subsidy

So to you, you believe most Igbos will forgive Awolowo for his ignoble role during the civil war right? And they don't know who Tinubu really is? You believe they don't know that Tinubu is one of the tactical sponsors of tribal war in Nigeria especially between the Igbos and Yoruba. Someone who was quoted to have said he doesn't believe in one Nigeria. Double Standard is that you?

My brother food was not a problem during obasanjo era.

Insecurity was not a problem. See you can travel from rivers state to sokoto by night nothing go happen. You can't try it now.

I could remember teachers buying cars for the first time my headmaster and Primary 6 teacher bought cars in 2001. At 2001 i was already in jss2
Your Narrative is nothing but self serving!
So because we were Importing Anything then and this Tinubu- Govt chose Not to Allow Importations to Nigeria - means, his Govt- is bad ,abi?
How Much of the Economic Activities do you know or read in School?
While I'm not going into the reasons for Importing Into Nigeria because along the line,I would love go t to do so before but a Govt can do otherwise - where such is glaring that - The Country Can Sustain ITSELF - without Wasting Humongous NBILLIONS on Other Countries Goods, PROVIDED,
WE CAN EQUALLY PRODUCE SUCH.
BUT AS AT TODAY - WITH NO LIGHTS,I DOUBT 🧐 IF. GOVT- IS RIGHT WITH THAT BANING OF THINGS,AT LEAST - GOVT SHOULD ALLOW IT- TO REDUCE THE BURDEN OF SUFFERING BECAUSE, EVEN WWW ARE NOT AGRICULTURALLY OK

The insecurity issue in Nigeria which is responsible for the food crisis was an offshoot of the so called Niger delta struggle which actually began in obj era with kidnappings of expatriates to make a statement of the issues in the region. I remember then someone from the middle belt I worked with raised an alarm that if northerners should learn the art of kidnapping then there will be a major national crisis and anytime I see what’s happening now I remember that statement.

The major change in Nigeria is moral than economic as we are becoming more heartless and losing our humanity under the guise of economic hardship that has been there since the military era.
The inability of the current government to tame it and bring a lasting solution to it means that they hace failed.
Why on earth should tinubu be there and terrorists take hostage the people? Then he is incapable.

GEJ i could say to an extent was able to give technical blow to boko haram but this was during his last months in office.

If any government could maintain that tide then things wilm improve. The government doesn't care, soldiers are crying.. I mean under ranks soldiers fighting the war. The president has said nothing

You people can lie. As in pure blatant lie. There was no time oil prices reached $100 mark under Obasanjo. Haba. Infact OBJ meet it at $17 per barrel and it went to about $65 by the time he left in 2007.

It was only during GEJ that it went to $100 per barrel and pass the $100 mark

Like we tell you people, propaganda doesn't do government. You can win with propaganda. You can't rule with it because your ineptitude can't be hidden.

Eyin Opuro oshi.

https://www.thecable.ng/fact-check-no-oil-price-wasnt-100-per-barrel-between-1999-and-2019-as-buhari-claimed/
$17 to $65 is actually a lot percentage wise.

You think Obasanjo is a tribalist like the current ones in power? Absolutely NO. OBJ doesn't care where the hell you are from as long as you can do the Job. Go Ahead.

And that is why since 1999,He had the best economic indices. These ones now blaming themselves didn't even have it worst as we did in 1999.

I keep on wondering what they would have said if they were the ones that took over in 99. They would have simply sold us off to China or somewhere else

Awọn Oluya

P.S
The Obasanjo years were even a period of very low oil prices. Yet,he still increased minimum wage that had been stagnant for years. This post deserves FP.
Mods over to you
Go check again, Nigeria experienced an Oil boom......

Describing it as magic indicates that you are clueless about what Foreign Reserves are
I understand many people see the words Reserves and think it is some kind of savings account or money set aside for the rainy day
It is none of those things
It does not even belong to the government
It belongs to the Central Bank
Some might say but is it not the government that owns the bank
Yes
Just like other owners own other banks the other bank owners do not own the cash or deposits in their vaults

The Foreign reserves are like those deposits and the holders of Naira are the depositors if the depositors continue to import without exporting the Reserves will shrink and vice versa

If you have Naira in your account you are a shareholder of those reserves

The NAIRA IS A CBN DEBT OR PROMISORY NOTE A CBN LIABILITY
THE R3SERVES ARE CBN ASSETS THAT BALANCE THE LIABILITY
Without reserves the Naira is an empty promise

When Foreign airline talked of trapped funds what they meant is they have Naira and want to change it for dollars and there is a delay on the CBN SIDE
Do you have evidence for this
Not just cho cho cho

Obasanjo did not grow it

Obasanjo was never in charge of the CBN
You are making my point
This subject is something you don't understand
It is beyond your knowledge and everything you say reveals ignorance
If you know what foreign reserves actually are you won't be asking this question

What is the purpose of foreign reserves

What are they for?

Do you know?
Show evidence that you know what Foreign reserves are

The sentimental approach to addressing the Niger delta struggle through amnesty in terms of monetary compensation has made it more difficult for any govt to address insecurity in any region as every one now wants the Niger delta settlement which is impossible and never sustainable. Apart from the awards of education scholarships given to students from Niger delta region to enable them access educational opportunities and careers opportunities I never supported all those cash and contracts awards all in the name of amnesty. You can see that all efforts of amnesty in the north to tame the insurgents has never worked.

I will try to keep this short
Oil prices crashed around 1983 and remained low till 1999 when Obasanjo took over apart from a brief spike in 199! Because of the Gulf war

The sustained low oil prices meant Nigerians adjusted to less imports and relied more on home made stuff

Oil price reached a low of $10 in 1998
When Obasanjo took over in 1999 it was $18
Oil price rose after 1999 and never was as low as $18

By the time he left office in 2007 Oil prices had more than quadrupled to $85 and reached $100 by the end of the year

Imagine what it means for Oil prices to quadruple under your watch

Unfortunately that windfall was mismanaged again under poor management of Ngozi Okonjo Iweala
Refineries were not fixed
Power was not fixed
Roads not fixed
Where did all that money go
Okonjo Iweala handed billions to her masters in the West claiming they were paying off debt
Debt that was not properly verified
We went back to the same old habits of consumption now we are importing tens of billions from China because re reestablished those consumption habits

Why was the Naira stable under Abacha despite low oil prices
Simple
Little or no imports
Can you provide evidence that oil prices were low before 1999?
Reduced the lies abeg
Can you provide evidence that the debts were unverified

That Nigeria has not seen a better tomorrow is not true, the military slowed us down as most of the development we see today would have happened in the 80s if we had no military rule. Telecoms would have been in earlier which would have hasten our drive towards science and technology aided by the private sector. The military made Nigerians to depend too much on govt for most things and destroyed our sense of dignity, self reliance and self worth.
What kind of lie is this?
Most of our infrastructural development happened under the military. How do telecoms aid your drive towards science and tech? Are you even aware that military usually has the most cutting edge tech in advanced countries? How did military make you depend so much on govt?

Debt relief is what made obj regime looks good. I was in university all through obj first tenure and I can tell you life was hard as hell with incessant strikes and all sorts. The same thing Nigerians complain about today was still the same things being said today; bad roads, poor healthcare systems and poverty. The so called economic team obj was just rhetorics because of the nice cvs of the persons in the govt. That Nigerians were richer or fared better under obj is a mirage
Nigerians we're richer and fared better under OBJ. Just imagine moving minimum wage from 700 to 3500 alone. That's 500% increase? What do you think will happen to the civil servants and private sector employees? What about those employed in telecoms sector that was just starting up and in the recapitalised banks? The likes of Ali Baba, Basketmouth and other artistes made good money from the support given to the entertainment industry. Nigerians had it better under OBJ. That's a fact

Cut the crap of the military jor, the light rail in Lagos now, was it done by the military? The Lagos-Ibadan rail, done by the military? all the infrastructural expansion for the FCT Abuja was it done by the military? second niger bridge by the military? Even the third mainland bridge was never started by the military; all the industrial estates in Lagos and Ibadan were never started by the military. The lie that the military did most of our infrastructure has long expired. Even the first generation of Nigerian universities was never established by the military.

The military incursion into our polity was a disaster and was responsible for our slow pace of development. If you like, continue to be gaslighted by the military crap.

And you say telecoms do not drive towards science and tech grin. How many people did the banks and telecoms even employ from the teeming population of unemployed Nigerians?

Nigerians were never richer under OBJ., They did groan under incessant increases in petrol prices and all. Check Otedola's new book, where he said OBJ abused him for advising him on the deregulation of diesel, leading to diesel scarcity at the time. We have short memories, always thinking the past was better.

This is a funny question to ask. How many people did banks and telecoms employ? Really? You mean they stopped employing after OBj left office? Do you know how many service providers and contractors have been blessed grim the two sectors?
It's even funny to hear people who defend fuel price increase from 200-1000 claim that people groaned under N20 increase in fuel price which was usually met with stiff resistance from labour. Obj's time was better. My mother was a teacher then. After Obj increase minimum wage, she changed our interior decor and even started a side business. How many civil servants can even afford rent today after minium wage increase not to talk of starting a side business? Are you guys not telling people to go and farm after closing from work?
