Good morning fellow Nairalanders, I recently recharged my IBEDC prepaid meter with ₦3,000 and received only 13.35 units, which calculates to approximately ₦224.64 per kWh. To confirm, I recharged another ₦3,100 and got 13.80 units, also equating to about ₦224.64 per kWh. According to the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) Multi-Year Tariff Order (MYTO) for April 2025, the official Band A tariff for IBEDC is ₦209.50 per kWh. My effective rates are higher than this, yet I’m not even on Band A. This suggests IBEDC is overcharging me, as my ₦3,100 should have provided more units based on my tariff band. What steps can I take to report this overbilling, demand a refund, and ensure I’m charged the correct tariff for my band? This is unacceptable and needs urgent resolution!

Hope no be my own Dem carry join your own lol. Imagine, the #6100 in total that I did isn't even up to your 77 units and no be band A I dey o. I don't know why I just decided to pay attention to it this morning.

I'm on Band A same IBEDC and every 1k recharge gives me 4.50kwh.
I get 22.5kwh for 5k recharge.

If you are not on Band A and you are charged like this, go to their nearest office and lodge complaints meanwhile try to investigate in your area what others get on their recharges prolly you have been migrated unknowingly but if others in your neighborhood get something higher, it means you are being ripped.

Thanks boss, I'll visit their office. I wonder the essence of metering when this estimated billing issue still persists. This country is something else. Do you think they would refund the ones I've done in the past?

So I went there this morning and they confirmed I was right. They collected the receipt of the last token I bought and they said they will work on it. Education no be scam o, if I'm not learned, that's how they will keep extorting without me knowing
