The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has dismissed as fake news reports claiming that Interpol rejected its wanted alert on Bashir Haske, son-in-law of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the anti-graft agency described the reports as false, stressing that no such rejection came from Interpol.

The EFCC had earlier declared Haske wanted over alleged financial crimes. However, shortly after the declaration, reports surfaced alleging that Interpol turned down the alert on grounds of political persecution—claims the Commission has now debunked.

My comment: Why has no reputable news media carry the so-called rejection by Interpol, other than the usual anti-government outfits like Gazette News and some mushroom media?

Interpol can't deny assisting any Government that allow them to operate in their country inrespective of political witchhunt or not. thats number one ... interpol is more like international organization and they can't dictate to the Government.. in as much I don't like the present Government no one can dictate for them ... internal politics is different from international own

EFCC cannot just push "FAKE NEWS ALERT" without evidence. All they needed to do was publish INTERPOL's acceptance letter.

EFCC should go after the people responsible for the fake news making a scape goat of them.

Anyone with an ounce of sense should already know that it fake. Interpol will never issue such statement.

Interpol will not try that nonsense because they know that there are several Yahoo boys here in Nigeria yet to be discovered and bundled to US and Europe. So, if they don't co-operate with EFCC, then EFCC and Nigerian Police too will not co-operate with them. Very simple.

Beside this, Atiku Abubakar who used this particular wanted guy for money laundering is also a fugitive is USA, that was why he had to hide behind Bukola Saraki when Saraki was Senate President to visit the US
