delpee:Many people including me thought the creation of Osun state from Oyo state ought to have put an end to rivalries and acrimonies that has existed for long between Ooni of Ife and Alaafin of Oyo but it turned out not to be so. |

oz4real83:From the language of the two...we know who came from who A time came in the history of the Bini when they were facing political strifes and conflicts, they needed a place that could serve as a model for them to learn political orderliness. Hence, they turned to Ile-Ife the cradle of the Yoruba race for help. The Yoruba sent them a prince that could help them reorganize their society, this prince was known as Oramiyan. Oramiyan however came to a conclusion that the people of Bini needed a native to help lead them. So he impregnated a Benin woman they had a son whose name was Eweka. It was from the Eweka dynasty that Bini began to gain recognition |

Amalekki:Oranmiyan was a great fighter who conquered lands and people. The first son of Okanbi, Owu, wasn't as active as Oranmiyan. Oranmiyan was boisterous, brave, daring, and strong! This is how a real man should be. |

googi:The very first statement is a problem What is Yoruba world? When did people start to accept they were part of this world This claim of crown and Ooni what is the source I don't think Ijebus will agree with this Not everyone identified with Oduduwa My understanding and what I have witnessed is that the people in the North around Oyo have significant differences from those in the South around The waterways like Ijebus or East like Ondo The affiliation to Ife has little to do with Oduduwa or his sons Yoruba believe all mankind started in Ife and thus saw themselves as Ekiti Egba Oyo Ijesha Etc Ife to us is like the Garden of Eden. Oduduwa came maybe 1000 years ago That word Yoruba was reserved for Oyo people and those very close to them The use of Yoruba for everyone was introduced by Ajayi Crowther who was likely of Oyo origin But in my lifetime I met old Ijebu calling Oyo as Awon Yoruba With respect that talk about elevation to par with King of England is YOUR IMAGINATION There is no basis for that just a fantastic idea that you like |

Shikena:Bro, don't go there! Ifes are not known for wars; give it to the Oyos. The Ifes have always been protected by outsiders, including the Oyos; even the Ijebus once protected the Ifes against invaders. Do you know how many times the Ijeshas overran Ife? Ifes are very few, hence they can't win any war even if it happens again with Modakekes, who are Oyos, the most populous Yoruba subgroups. Ife can even be annexed by the Modakeks in future through support from the Oyos and Ibolos, whose dialects are the current Lingua Franca of the Yoruba ethnicities. |

Exousiang01:was Odududuwa a king in Ile ife or a priest ? Was he buried as a king o r buried as a priest ? Seventh child claiming pre-eminence not only over his eldest as well as the other older brother , but also his father ! Should we also agree that the stool he established for his son in Benin is greater than him ?! |

Ask him in whose dialect the yoruba textbooks, newspapers is written and all yorubas have to learn it and write examination in to pass. The answer to this question, is the answer to this fake submission. The first yoruba Bible was written in Oyo language, Ajayi Crowther is from Ogun State but he knows the Supreme yoruba King and yoruba article must be written in his dialect.

IT IS BIGOTRY IN HIGHEST ORDER FOR ANYONE TO THINK A KING IS SUPERIOR TO THE OTHER EXCEPT OTHERWISE STATED BY THE LAW. BOTH ALAAFIN AND OONI ARE FIRST CLASS KINGS ACCORDING TO THE LAW AND THAT IS SIMPLE AND NOT DEBATABLE. SO, HE OONI HAS A RIGHT TO APPOINT ANYONE AS A CHIEF BUT CALLING SUCH CHIEF PRESIDENT OF NIGERIA IS HIGHLY DEROGATORY; THIS IS THE CASE HERE. |

That shows that a king without an army can't possibly be the head of the hitherto warrior-like Yoruba. If anything, calling the Ooni the "spiritual head" of the Yoruba only shows he is just a chief priest and not a king per say. Elliotwaveforec: |

Since when has salary settled who is higher on the ladder? By that salary, Ooni is four levels below other Oba. Yes, Oba of Ijebu said they are not Yoruba, they are from Waddai. He might be right on Yoruba because of the recent efforts to unite all. Whatever you call yourselves from West Africa to Diaspora, they all pass through Waddai around Ethiopia. Even Oduduwa met 40 or so rulers in Ife before him and Ife moved to safer locations a few times too. How many Yoruba believe that they originated from Oyo? |
