The issue of quack mechanics in Nigeria is becoming an epidemic. Can anyone kindly recommend someone or people in Lagos who actually know what they are doing? Especially for acura.

You're asking the right question. Please take your time to get it right. Even if it is a long time. With evidence from the person's customers... Before you give your vehicle out to anyone.

Cracking noise from the exhaust. Fixed twice by a panel beater, nothing changed, mechanic checked and said he adjusted the propeller to prevent it from touching other metals. The noise went away but now the car is vibrating seriously with noise when accelerating. The steering, seats, even car charger are vibrating loudly.

Look like the exhaust is clogged. What they did was going after the symptoms.

Lagos, yes, the vibration increased with much noise, I have parked it, not to be driven until it is fixed. It has been pickedup and I have been told that two of the engine seats are faulty. I will know for sure by tomorrow.

First, start with elimination of possible cause... (one) is removing the propeller shaft entirely and drive without it. It's safe to drive without it, no harm to the engine or gear.... since you said it comes with noise, cranking noise underneath, right? If so, i suspect the propeller bolts in the middle, which is bolted on the body of the car is lose.
NB: i don't mean the iron hanger that cross over the propeller shaft.

Secondly, check the rpm/speed the noise starts happening...

Bad engine seating will not cause cranking noise, you will get vibration at idle and a loud thud shifting the gear from P to R/D. Bad Front engine seating will cause torque steer accelerating hard from a stop. Change it if bad to avoid damage to you inner cupshaft!

You can check your engine seating to know which is bad through power braking. Open the engine bay and have someone put your car in Drive and hold the brake firmly, and gently press the throttle pedal at 1500 to 2k rpm to check the engine movement. A little movement with resistance means your seating is in good shape but obvious movement means the seating is bad.
Note: when power braking and gear in "R" you are testing the rear engine seating. And when gear is in " grin

" you are testing the front one.

Reminder! Your front engine seating has a vacuum tube connected to engine which it uses to damping vibration and hardening during quick acceleration. Don't forget to connect it!!

Two likely causes for the rattle

1. Loose heat shield. This runs all the way from the manifold all the way to the rear of the exhaust
2. Bad exhaust hangers

For the vibration, check the following
1. Engine and trans mount
2. Propeller bolts and center casing
3. Brake discs. These shake the car in the manner you described.

All these have been checked, the conclusion is that the problem is the threaded holes in the engine block. The threads are stripped. They may need to bring out the engine.

Yes, it has been fixed, they brough out the engine and returned it back after fixing the thread. It's running fine so far.

Talking about mdx, I really like the car, cant speak for everyone else, but I am a lover of it.

Good car.

Quick, handles superbly well. Only downside is fuel economy.
12mpg in town and 18mpg on the highway of you drive like a grandpa.

But the oomph more than. Makes up for the poor fuel economy.
Accelerates well and outpaces most of its peers.

Don't expect the fun of a sedan/sport car in an SUV. But, this SUV handles like a car and better than most sedans.
