Imo raises Minimum Wage to ₦104,000, Doctors’ Salaries now ₦582,000 by Gistsnaijamedia(op): 7:02am On Aug 27, 2025
Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, has announced a significant increase in the minimum wage for workers in the state civil service, raising it to N104,000.

The governor made this declaration during a meeting with members of the state labour force held at the Government House in Owerri.

In a related move, the monthly salary for medical doctors in the state civil service has been increased to N582,000.

Governor Uzodimma explained that the upward review of wages was made possible by a rise in the state’s internally generated revenue and an increase in federal allocations.

He emphasized that the new salary structure is aimed at stimulating Imo State’s economy and boosting the morale and productivity of civil servants.

Governor Uzodinma also announced Sixteen billion naira to offset gratuity arrears for pensioners in the state.

With Anoh gas projects fully operational, Imo State federal allocation should explode.

While I am not a fan of Hope Uzodinma, I like that he's intentional about equipping Imo youths with digital skills. The economy of the future will be knowledge driven, not based on fossil fuel.

This shouldn't just be a piece of news! The new salary structure should be implemented with immediate effect.

For the governor to raise it again from 70k without compulsion, means the state now has enough money for that, and decided to reward the state ever dedicated workers.
