Simply madness.
What is in that paper that makes it so expensive, even if you add administrative cost? Should automation and efficiency not bring prices down instead of increasing cost? Everything in Nigeria under these apc goons is all about "revenue". Even at the previous 50k it was still over priced.
When will Nigerians stop all these government officials that just wakeup and take decisions without consulting people they are mean to serve, is this a dictatorship?

Of course they are not dullards. They did a rational calculation before coming up with this amount.

You see, the whole mentality is very typical of an average Nigerian citizen who is able to buy a car for millions but won't be able to tender vehicle particulars because he finds it 'expensive' to afford.
Lol! There should be justification before increment.
Not just because of revenue increment.
This government is hell bent in suffocating the masses

Calculate your minimum wage against your international passport and you'll see that your rulers are wicked people.
How many people are on minimum wage?
When they say minimum wage, it is for the "very low people".
Get your life from the minimum and stop crying

Hmmmm.... you want fast, reliable and efficient service just like in your 'sane climes' you have to pay for it. They pay for it in those countries.
A new US passport (standard) costs $165... with federal minimum wage at about $1215, a person can get a new passport 7 times over in one month...

In Nigeria, the passport is N100,000. Minimum wage is N70,000... so a Nigerian on minimum wage cannot get a passport with one month's salary...

So technically, Nigerians are paying more to get an international passport than those in saner climes who pay relatively less and have better services...

I still don't understand the logic behind using minimum wage as you people's yardstick as to what should be paid for an international passport.

It is not logical. Because it simply means that the person will only spend more time saving to acquire one. That's all!

Is that the yardstick used for the price of flight ticket too?!🥴
Why won't you simply see the logic behind minimum wage and a national document? For every working citizen earning a minimum wage, he or she should be able to afford a passport from their mini wages. You were given examples of other countries but you still wouldn't see reason.

If not for wickedness, a country where many citizens don't even make the mini' wage, only for the document being increased. We know that, the increase scheme is to discourage people of less than minimum wages the option or hope of seeking a life out side nigeria. You talked about airticket not cheap. You don't even have an air national carrier. Airline is a transport business of individuals and coorperations trying to make profits based on costs and other factors of business. Why compare with a document that every citizen is entitled to?
If you can't afford air ticket, use your identity follow land, or sea dey go. Dey break the journey until you reach your destination(adventure things)

You are not being realistic. Look at the bigger picture which is what you want to use the passport for. If you can't even afford a passport then...............what are you trying to use it for? Of course 90% of it's utility is for traveling. You expect other expenses to be free or less than the price of the passport?!
That's not a good point.
I and a friend were discussing on how to go and renew our passport. A Senegalese hear us and asked what such huge amount was for. We said passport. He laughed and asked how on earth it is high. We later learnt Nigerian passport price is almost four times their own. Same West African Passport o.
My guy shift.

Oh no. Dont start. You are not close to simple. Stop using that word. cheesy. Is NIN an alternate for travel passport for citizens? Don't other countries have Nin(equivalent), is it an alternate to their travel passport?
Like i said, it is a calculated scheme by the tax collectors to discourage people who earn less from leaving, knowing fully well we have very large number of these people stressing to move out. The suppression is real. And there is no plan or concrete program like China to help the people come out of poverty.

They are comparing travel passport and mini wages of other countries to that of Naija, and you had to bring up a local id. Even the best countries in the globe don't use local id for international travel. Wetin dey worry you self.

This poverty shaming thing is something else in Nigeria. Mentality, most of you are okay and happy to see people struggle through poverty. It shows in your comments here. I don't know if we hate to see every or most Nigerians have a decent living. No wonder crime dey everywhere. Cos, we don't want collective growth. We want to be that guy with all the good things on the street while others watch, hail us, envy us with nothing at hand. We hardly think of a large amount of citizens doing fine.
