Aug 29 (Reuters) - Israel has recovered the body of hostage Ilan Weiss from the Gaza Strip, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office said on Friday.
Items belonging to a second person, whose identity had not yet been cleared for publication, were also retrieved, the statement added.

Weiss, 55, a resident of Kibbutz Be'eri, in southern Israel, was kidnapped from his home and killed during the October 7, 2023, cross-border attack by Hamas, the Israeli military said.
His wife, Shiri, and daughter, Noga, were also abducted and later released as part of a hostage-prisoner swap deal in November 2023.
With Weiss's body recovered, Israel says 49 hostages remain in Gaza, of whom only 20 are believed to be alive.
Around 1,200 people were killed and 251 taken hostage during the Hamas-led attack on southern Israel, according to Israeli authorities.
Israel's subsequent military campaign in Gaza has killed more than 62,000 Palestinians, according to health officials in the Hamas-run enclave

It's really sad. Peace is the way to go. Not hatred or antisemitism or whatever. While this Israeli might have been killed think of the thousands of Palestinians that have also been killed...it's completely mad and disproportionate. Na wao.

The sole reason the tunnels in Gaza have not been flooded is because not all the hostages, dead or alive, have been accounted for.

For now, this restraint exists for the sake of those still alive.

But if it is ever confirmed that no hostage survives, a new chapter of the war will begin. Blowing up, gassing, and flooding the tunnels with unlimited Mediterranean seawater would become daily practice, alongside indiscriminate strikes.

So we should be crying because of one hostage, though not in support of Hamas, but what about the number of Palestinians you have killed, massacred? are dey less of a human dan d Israelis? Or is Israel more human than the Palestinians?
