Ghana did theirs first in 1969
Nigeria did theirs in 1983.
Now Ghana is currently returning the favour.
Well after their "Nigeria must go" is over

Nigeria will be next to to take similar action again.
Charly this e be Do me I do you
Nigeria is no longer as attractive as it used to be in the past. Our population has exploded and resources mismanaged. I don't think we still have up to 1 million Ghanaians living here. There's nothing that can attract a West African to Nigeria anymore because our currency is worthless now.

No they are not.

Nigerians are in Ghana and nobody is touching them.

The govt there loudly condemned all such protests, and refused police cover for the protesters.

Their president is always in Abuja and has Nigerian blood or something.

He might even have been installed by Nigeria remotely, because Nigeria rules West Africa.

cheesy The ugly incident leading to this history was indeed a weak reminder of the fragility of our humanity. Imagine two West African sub regional power houses engaged in this humanitarian disaster of policy somersaults. However, Ghanian suffered more than their govt previously did to Nigerians.
Many of you do not know history.

President Busia of Ghana expelled Nigerians and other West Africans in 1969. The Ghanaians were the first offenders.

ghana gained property first, then naija gained nothing in our own
aribisala0:
Yes it Happened but Ghana did
Nigeria must go TWICE

IN 1969 in the middle of the civil war they mercilessly gave Nigerians 2 weeks to get papers or get out

Not everyone they expelled was a migrant to Ghana some were born in Ghana in the colonial era before 1957 when Ghana gained independence
A long story but in the colonial era before independence millions of West Africans move to Ghana for business. Many owned cocoa farms shops etc . There was a coup around 1966 in Ghana and there economy started to dip. They blamed foreigners mostly Nigerians

They were kicked out and Ghanaians took over their farms and property that were auctioned
After that they could not manage the businesses they seized and less than 10 years later they had hunger in Ghana and came to Nigeria in millions
Ironically in1983 oil prices crashed economy going down they scapegoated foreigners Shagari asked them to go

They did not leave any farms or businesses that were taken over by Nigerians

5hey started it

Also 1969 was not the first time
There was another in 1959 though on a smaller scale but that is the Ghanaian attitude

An average Ghanaian has no hatred for Nigerians.
It is the bad attitude, lawlessness and immoral, disrespectful behaviours of many Nigerians abroad that make their citizens to dislike Nigerians.
Work on the attitude first before you complain.

That means if this people were allowed in those days, Nigeria would have predominantly divided between Nigeria and Ghana as another ethnic group in Nigeria

There were lots. Especially people from the Ogbomosho area of Oyo state that have intermarried with Ghanaians for over 100 years.
Not only Ognomosho. All the way from Oshogbo area up to Ogbomosho, Ejigbo, Offa and Ilorin axis.
The father of the president of Ghana (John Mahama) was married to a Yoruba woman from Offa in Ghana.
The Yoruba people from those areas really did well and flourished in Ghana before the 1969 incident.

Ghanaians are not trouble makers
The Nigerians in Ghana in 1969 were more in numbers than the Ghanaians in Nigeria in 1983.
Many Nigerians did not leave Ghana in 1969, and many still travelled to Ghana shortly afterwards.

Surprisingly Igbos protected Ghanaians during that period and didn't ask them to go like happened in the North and South West except for those who left on their own volition, Ghanaians screaming Igbos Must Go don't know the difference between Nigeria tribes

Affected 'Ashawo' business badly.

95% of brothel prostitutes then were Ghanaian women.

Many brothels in Southern Nigeria were shut down.
Are you for real?? I just find it hard to believe Ghanaians were into prostitution in ninja back then.
