Royal Castle Ceramics: CCN Condemns Release Of Undocumented Chinese Workers by AnonPoet(op): 6:47pm On Aug 29, 2025
A civil society group, the Coalition of Concerned Nigerians, CCN, has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to investigate alleged irregularities and compromise within the Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS, following revelations surrounding the operations of a Chinese-owned firm, Nigeria Royal Castle Ceramics Company Limited, in Ogun State.

The group accused top-ranking NIS officials of collusion and negligence, alleging that the company employed foreign nationals without proper documentation for nearly four years, relying only on a Corporate Affairs Commission, CAC, registration certificate rather than valid expatriate permits.

In a statement issued on Thursday, CCN spokesperson, Abiodun Akinremi, condemned the release of five Chinese nationals recently arrested at the ceramics company despite clear evidence of immigration violations. Those freed were identified as Zhang Damou (46), Qian Jin (48), Tang Pan (41), Lin Jianfeng (52), and Guo Zhengheng (40).

According to reports, the expatriates were working in Nigeria on visas and permits that did not authorize full-time employment.

Authorities confirmed that their activities breached multiple provisions of the Immigration Act 2015, including illegal residency, unauthorized employment, and violation of visa conditions.

Over 40 other workers at the firm are still said to be operating illegally.

The CCN alleged that their sudden release from custody was politically influenced, describing it as “a troubling pattern of high-level collusion and complicity within the NIS.”

“It is deeply disturbing and completely unacceptable for foreign nationals to live and work openly in Nigeria without proper documentation,” Akinremi said.

“This undermines our labor laws, weakens national security, and threatens opportunities for Nigerian workers.
“You can have the right policies, but if you implement them the wrong way, there will be problems,” she said.

The group also criticized what it called systemic weaknesses within immigration enforcement, warning that unchecked compromises could erode public trust and set dangerous precedents.

Akinremi further noted that while President Tinubu has taken bold steps against corruption in public institutions, “bad elements within the NIS” continue to sabotage reforms through deliberate inaction and compromise.

The CCN called on the Federal Government to launch an independent investigation into the alleged interference, punish culpable officials, and institute reforms to strengthen immigration oversight.

“We urge President Tinubu to ensure that those responsible are held accountable. Protecting Nigeria’s immigration system is not only about law and order, but about safeguarding jobs, securing national sovereignty, and restoring public confidence,” the statement read.

The coalition stressed that it will continue monitoring developments in the case and will intensify advocacy for transparency, accountability, and strict adherence to the rule of law.

Tinubu cannot do anything.
He is weak.
He has sold Nigeria to China.
President Xi has his hands by tinubu's balls.
Any false moves from tinubu, his balls will be sent to Sing Sing to sing.

Imagine 40 expatriates woking legally in our land something we cannot try for their country, jail and deported sharp grin..... I remembered one Mr. Henry in Osogbo around 2014, US Citizen, came by road from Ghana to Nigeria and his documents has been expired back then so our Immigration dont do their job. Even we Citizen, we suppose to know our right. We can challenge any white walking in the street and call police if we noticed maybe one paper has expired. But at the end police would collect money from him and let him go. Common Libya north Africa Chinese cannot try it, even we Africans too.

What a shame. This is the same NIS that President Tinubu has made provision for life salaries according to the Interior Minister. Renewed hope indeed.

What many people do not realize is that naija is a developing country that needs foreigners, their skills, money, business investments in which case laws sometimes will be made flexible.
I remember when I had issues with an Indian conglomerate. I petitioned the then CP who the assigned it to a department. We went to effect the arrest of the Indian MD, omo the man told the police korokoro he cannot come now, they should go, he will make arrangements to come. The police team leader in my presence told the Indian you mean under the authority of the CP you are declining following us? Me I think say action go happen, that the police will grab and drag him as they do we Nigerians, for where? Instead the policeman stepped aside and made a phone call to his superiors, those ones told him to ask the man when he could make himself available at their office, he said in 2days. Na so we waka commot to my disappointment.
Outside the premises and back at the office, police explained that expatriates like that have to be handled with care as it could cause diplomatic incidence, more so especially as at that time our ecomony was dependent on India being the major buyer of our crude when America had stopped purchases.
