The youths have been arrested. What has been done to the officer? You might condemn the youths' actions, saying it is a mark of disrespect to an officer of the law. But, is someone that takes illicit drugs really an office of the law? In fact, he was not on duty when the youths dealt with him. If the police commission is sincere, it would have first of all investigated whether the officer actually took illicit drugs, instead of claiming that the youths flogged the officer because the president of the youths is interested in the officer's girlfriend. Even if the president of the youths is interested in the officer's girlfriend, didn't/doesn't the officer take drugs? Have there not been other cases where the same youths apprehended and punished consumers of illicit drugs? What exactly does the police commission want to achieve by bringing up the allegation that the youths' president is interested in the officer's girlfriend? You might condemn the youths' action, calling it jungle justice. But what had the government or the police done before the youths decided to protect themselves and their community? Again, flogging is not that severe. Flogging is nothing compared to what police officers do to people everyday at checkpoints. This is like the case of IPOB and headsmen. Herdsmen have been killing and destroying. No herdsman has been brought to book. But the moment IPOB rose up in self defense, python dance and so many other things started coming from the federal government against IPOB. I see some officers openly wrapping 'Igbo' at some checkpoints. I have also witnessed many occasions where officers arrest or extort road users for being in possession of 'Igbo'. |

I guess the youths involved in this have been arrested already, even the police should never arrest you for any reason and subject you to this kind of assault. |

I see a clear case of conflict of interest. The police should be applauding the bold actions of the community president and youths, just as NDLEA had done. From all what i read up there, the youths are making the work of policing the community even easier. A sizable number of criminals and miscreants take illicit drugs. This is what fuels their deviant activities of mischief. Now the youths have cut off the supply thereby reducing crime in the community but guess what? The organization that should even be the best beneficiary of this operation by the youths are now the primary saboteurs Why?? Because "one of their own" is a culprit. Not only is he engaging in hard drugs trade, he is also an end user and encourages others to follow suit as well . To cap it all, he is a paedophile who had sexual intercourse with a minor he was supposed to protect and impregnated her in the process , to show the lack of shame, he is proudly calling her his "Girlfriend". This is a 5 count charge and should be the height of disgust and embarrassment an Officer of the law could bring to the noble police force. To show that he knew what he was doing, from the write-up, he chose to carry out his illicit activities while on mufti. With all these huge allegations in place, the force did not deem it fit to investigate, their primary instinct was to cover-up and unleash mayhem on the youths and community that dared to expose the nefarious activities of this randy officer. So.....the same ol mantra came up "We must defend one of our own, even though he has committed a heinous crime" This mantra has done more harm than good. We see this in politics, at the workplace, in our religious institutes and even in our homes and villages. This mantra is the reason why Nigeria has failed in all strata of morality and nation building. I must say, i am very much ashamed of the actions taken by the law enforcement officers here. |

Who empowered the youths to flog a drug abuser? Mob action. When Nigerians suddenly have power as a result of being in large numbers, you see a silent an dangerous side of them. |

The right thing to do is hand them over to the appropriate authority. The actions of the youths are highly reprehensible, unconstitutional, and a gross violation of their fundamental human rights. They have done the right thing by being vigilant, but threw it all away by subjecting them to such inhuman and degrading treatment. |

I don't even believe the police reports one bit or will say allegations, they'd cook up stories to justify their inadequacies, the so called inspector or whatever shouldn't be caught with drugs in the first place but look where we are. An officer of the law now turn druggie, what do I expect... |

What if he's on undercover mission? this is completely unacceptable. Too many uneducated people in Nigeria acting recklessness and claiming 'woke' minds...How can you justify flogging a police officer? Tomorrow, when arrests begin, the same people will start crying foul and making baseless claims |

[U spoke my mind ...I think none APC supporters are the target of ban...but those who insult others like obi or Atiku is spared....people abuse or criticise other politicians here without getting banned but once u criticise APC politicians u will get banned...however to do justice to the topic the youths shouldn't have taken laws into their hands ...they should have handed both the sellers and users of drugs to NDLEA....because if the users were taken to the appropriate authorities, all this wahala would have been avoided....if there's no one using drugs the drug barons will stop selling....selective justice is what is increasing the anyhowness in our country |
