Navy Jails Officer Over Sexual Relationship With Colleague’s Wife by iwaeda(op): 7:10pm On Aug 30, 2025

The Nigerian Navy (NN) has dismissed a serving officer (a Lieutenant), over charges of a “scandalous” sexual relationship with the wife of a colleague.

The Lieutenant is also to serve three years’ imprisonment for the same offence.

Sources confirmed that the dismissal from the Navy and punishment of three years imprisonment were awarded to the officer following the confirmation of the outcome of a Special Court Martial (SCM) by Naval Headquarters, Abuja.

“The SCM, at the conclusion of its proceedings, found the dismissed Officer guilty as charged, hence the sentence of three years imprisonment and Dismissal from the Nigerian Navy which took effect from November 23, 2024”.

Furthermore, sources also noted that the award of punishment and dismissal was implemented as directed at the Nigerian Navy Institute of Technology (NNIT), Parade Ground, Sapele, on Friday, August 29, 2025.

Specifically, the dismissed officer was court-martialled by the SCM on four-count charges, including having sexual relations with a Service Personnel’s wife contrary to section 79 of the AFA CAP A20 LFN 2004; scandalous conduct of an officer contrary to section 91 of the AFA CAP A20 LFN 2004; deceiving witness contrary to section 122 of the criminal code Act CAP C380 Persuant to Section 114 of the AFA CAP A20 LFN 2004; and deceiving witness contrary to section 122 of the criminal code Act CAP C380 Persuant to Section 114 of the AFA CAP A20 LFN 2004.

Sources emphasised that “the legal review of the report of the trial proceedings showed that the accused was properly arraigned and due process was complied with during the trial.

Accordingly, the conclusion of imprisonment and dismissal from the Navy against the Lieutenant was upheld by the Navy Board.

In Jeffrey Archer's book As The Crow Flies a soldier was dismissed for sleeping with a colleague's wife. I think the armed forces everywhere frowns upon such things. What I find barbaric is the jail term

God will be catchinng them one by one...

That was how I visited my soldier friend in their barrack one day. Coincidentally, I meet a soldier while going to my friend house.

On getting to the house, I met my guy with his family but what took my attention till I left the place was the resemblance between the soldier I met on my way with my guy daugther.

When I was going back, my friend accompany me and the same soldier was coming back. At this point I focus on the man to confirm what I noticed in my friend house.

My instinct keep telling me .... bro you are right.

My friend greeted the man, in fact , they greeted as a good neigbhor and even discuss about my guy stay in the north-east. This give me more opportunity to observe and analysis the possibility.

As they finished, I ask my guy how many month he spent in northeast... he told me over 2 years and that, it is through this his neigbhor he use to send money to his madam sometimes.

I dont want to ask him more questions, but I think I can connect some dots already. I did not ask further question so that he wont suspect me for anything.

Later, during our conversation before I left, he told me how military frown at personel having an affair with personel spouse. He said in his voice "Baba nah dismiss ooo"

When I saw this post, I felt like telling my guy to conduct dna test but who am I? Bloody civilian?

The family is a very personal social unit.

For those wondering, it's about Code of Ethics in the Military. And it's a general law in most countries.

Let's paint a scenario:

1. You're a Captain married to a hottie. And she catches the eye of a Brigadier General. Knacks happen behind your back and Adultery is sweet, like every sin. So BG decides to "pull a David", to keep your wife permanently. He orders you to Niger state to fight bandits as your Commanding Officer, with your platoon, underequipped. And all of you die.

2. You and your friend are both Lance Corporals on the battlefield. You've been straffing his wife, infact his 2nd child resembles you. Your friend finds out. You're given orders to roll out to the battle front in Zamfara and your friend conspires with officers in the Armoury division to ensure none of the ammunition you go to battle with works well. So not only do you die, but the entire platoon gets wiped out because of sin (Adultery).

How many other Officers will feel safe to carry out orders if they know that their lives are in danger because of Se.xual Immorality and Adultery?

The Military works on Brotherhood and Trust. Because their lives are in danger constantly, they MUST trust the person beside them to have their backs and protect them, to survive.

And Sin (Adultery) makes that impossible. It's bad for morale as well as breeds distrust and division and wickedness.

Even in some companies abroad and here in Nigeria, Adultery is a fire-able offense.

Ethics is a big deal everywhere else except Nigerian society.

PS: even biblically, King David faced consequences. God decreed that the sword would never depart from his household. And when his son Absalom rebelled, one of the supporters of the rebellion was Bathsheba's Grandfather, Ahitophel, giving Absalom excellent military advice. Absalom actually lost because he didn't listen to that advice and Ahithophel committed suicide. Total destruction to the House of David, all because of a side chick and some "harmless" cheating, after all, "men weren't wired to be with one woman, yunno" undecided

them everyone's woman should start sleeping around then you can't be 100 percent in everything that's why we have divorce . It is easy to say whatever you like when you are not the victim we should not encourage such acts alot of people lack contentment out there and cheat for no reason other than financial gains
