Before Tinubu, governors were owing salaries. Under Tinubu, governors are increasing salaries. Make whatever you want out of it. PUNANI01:And where did the money come from? |

Many of the governors are tyrants, lacking empathy and because they are accountable to no one, they believe they can do and undo. You cannot blame them, they control billions every month and see themselves as gods. What can 70k minimum wage which some of them have not even implemented buy? |

"Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, during a meeting with labour leaders in the state, on Tuesday, announced the approval of a new minimum wage of N104,000, which is N34000 above the national benchmark that came into effect this year." Imo state set the pace, others follow. |

Ebubu:The 2 APC states in South East where APC is a pariah. No increment in whole APC in in South West or North where they have base. Believe APC propaganda at your own peril. Nothing good comes out of that evil party. Look critically well before applauding the increment |

This is a welcome development coming from the Imo state governor. Other states should emulate this and put smiles on the faces of their workers! It is quite unfair for one to suffer in schools, acquire different skills and even owe debts while schooling only to come out and start earning peanuts that cannot even feed you let alone catering for other needs. Our governments need to prioritise the welfare of Nigerian workers! Given the current economic reality, minimum wage in Nigeria should be something from ₦500,000 and above. |

Islie:What is the meaning of announcing without implementation? What is the impact of increasing minimum wage without reducing the total package of governors and other political office holders? How much gap is there between what a governor earns and what a state university VC earns? Or what a state hospital CMD earns? What is the rationale for increasing minimum wage instead of increasing the number of civil servants to improve water supply, free education for all children and free healthcare to all residents? anonimi: |

This is something we need to discuss about. Civil servants make up less than 1 percent of the population of each state. Yet as much as 45% of a states monthly income from the federation account is used to pay them salaries. This isn't right. As much as civil servants both at the federal and state levels are an entirely unproductive lot, I'll not blame them. The truth is most states shouldn't even exist. If states aren't self funding, the arguement fails to hold for their existence. Any state that depends entirely on federal government allocations before it can pay salaries is a disaster in waiting. |

Nigerians do not be deceived. Is all political. This 2 fellas don't mean well for their states. Am from Imo and would want to feel good leadership and transformation felt by Abians. APC has concluded their analysis and want to use this method to keep being in power. What a pity. |
