UNYD Calls For Sack Of Minister Of Transportation Over Poor Sector Performance by Abel7777(op): 6:15pm On Aug 31, 2025
A coalition under the aegis of United Nigeria Youths in Diaspora has called for the immediate removal of the Minister of Transportation, Saidu Alkali, citing his alleged failure to contribute meaningfully to President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

In a statement signed by its coordinator, Joel Amos, and co-signed by Johannah Adamu, the group expressed deep disappointment over what they described as the Minister's “underwhelming leadership” and the worsening state of the transport sector under his watch.

According to the statement, “The transportation system has become a nightmare for ordinary Nigerians, with soaring fares going unchecked and transportation conditions deteriorating. Roadworthiness of vehicles is now a growing concern, yet nothing is being done.”

The group further lamented the state of the railway system, accusing the ministry of spending huge sums of taxpayer money without tangible results. “The rail sector is in disarray. While funds continue to be spent, Nigerians have seen no corresponding improvement,” the group said.

They questioned why a key ministry continues to operate without positively impacting citizens, especially at a time when other nations are modernizing their transport infrastructure.

Highlighting the transportation challenges faced daily by Abuja residents, the group suggested that a metro rail system could help ease movement within the city. “Why hasn't the ministry considered developing metro train routes—Suleja to Berger, Mararaba to Berger, Abaji to Berger—as a solution to the hardship people face?” they asked.

The group concluded by urging President Tinubu to take urgent action by removing Minister Alkali and appointing a more visionary and development-focused leader to drive progress in the sector.

This is exactly the kind of tragedy that should have forced Dangote and his empire to face corporate responsibility.

A Dangote truck has snatched away a young graduate , a mother of two innocent children ,now left orphaned in a country where justice is always for sale. Her children will cry themselves to sleep without their mother, while Dangote counts billions and climbs Forbes’ list.

And I can bet you, not a word will come out of Dangote himself. No statement, no apology, no sense of shared humanity. Just the same cold silence that has followed decades of blood on Nigerian highways caused by his trucks.

This is not an isolated accident. It is a 40-year-long slow massacre. Hundreds, maybe thousands, of Nigerians have perished under the reckless wheels of trucks bearing his name. And what do we get? A routine social media condolence, a recycled statement, and then business as usual. The cycle of money and death continues.

When will the Nigerian government finally rise to the occasion and confront this rot? When will Dangote be forced to answer for the condition of his trucks, the competence of his drivers, and the sheer disregard for human life in his logistics chain?

There are 200 million Nigerians who rely on these roads. This is not just a tragedy, it is a national emergency.

We do not want another faceless condolence memo from some PR team. We want Dangote himself to stand before Nigerians, to explain, to be held accountable. A young life, a mother’s life, has been cut short for profit margins and corporate carelessness.

Her name deserves to be remembered. Her death should not be swept under the carpet. If this country had a spine, this single tragedy would have been enough to trigger a public reckoning, an end to reckless trucking, and the beginning of a safer Nigeria.

But if our leaders continue to play deaf and blind, then one day, it will be their own families crushed under the same wheels of negligence, and by then, Nigerians will have no sympathy left to give.

UNYD should rather be calling for the impeachment of the president for gross incompetence and flagrant disregard for the rule of law and democratic principles.

When the head is rotten, it’s only a matter of time before the entire system collapses

One person up there talking about Dangote apologizing, why should he?

Is he personally the culprit or his company? The company has made moves, what do you expect Dangote to do?

A lot of you don't understand how things work. You have this innate hatred for rich people and will do anything to see them fail even when it has nothing to do with them.

Dangote is not obligated to say anything about what happened, his company that was involved in the case has spoken. There's a big difference between an individual and a corporate body.

No matter how bright a light is, no one sees it when the eyes are closed.
If all you see now is difficulties, you will miss the opportunities.
People are starting to make mega bucks in cash cropping exports, FMCG, Banking, Stocks, and the rejuvenated oil and gas industry. Insurance will soon boom. The shackles holding down the Nigerian economy since 1960 are being dismantled rapidly. Those who are prepared for the opportunities and with open eyes will take advantage.

We told them Tinubu was old and out of tune with positive developmental policies and lacked the energy needed to bring about positive change. They responded that what they needed was his Brains and not his body.😂. When he was delegating questions in Chatham House, we again reminded them that he doesn’t even have a brain to begin with but they said he’s a leader and good leaders delegate responsibilities.😂. Today, here we are
