TRUSTEDGUY:Go to senate too to collect your own N21 million too, how is that a problem? Life itself is full of choices, since you know where bigger money is, carry your leg to go into politics and hustle for senatorial position too If you think some that are there get only WAEC, you that have PhD; you are over qualified already; go there and hustle. Laziness, complaint will not put money into your pocket, go and collect your own N21 million, let those with passion to teach and comfortable with current pay or less take up your teaching position. You won't be first professor or PhD holders in the Senate, they also abandoned TM lecturing to hustle for N21 million you are eying |

sreamsense:What is there to understand about your self centred mindset? Are your senators as productive as expected, in lawmaking and oversight functions of the executive branch, to warrant being paid multiple times more than lecturers? Are your own LGA councillors as productive as expected, in lawmaking and oversight functions of the LGA chairman, to warrant being paid multiple times more than teachers in primary schools that educate every single child free? anonimi: |

TenQ:How many researches or technological developments are comming out of our universities despite near uncountable lecturers and professors except sex for mark and turning academic to mere relaxation centers? You think you can keep hiding under intellectual properties or researches to hold government at ransom on yearly basis with big grammar when you want to fight for increment ? How many lecturers we have today in the universities have worked in the industries or remain current and relevant with innovation going out in the industries relating to their fieldd? Many (not all) of those parading themselves today as lecturers don't really have employable practical skills that could make them get employment in many standard organizations before retiring their fate in lecturing. And some were never even allowed to explore outside before engaging them as lecturers because they have first class in theory. Some of these first class did not even do their SIWES/Industrizl Training or work with standard companies for years to gain practical experience first before retaining them as lecturers and you expect them to be productive and turn out competent and skillful job ready graduates when they themselves don't have modern practical skills, right? If a lecturer teaching computer science or programming truly knows programming beyond solving quadratic equation or matrices; you think he will remain a lecturer that will be asking for increment on yearly basis, right? You better stop hiding under your usual emotional excuses game cards you play to deceive government when it comes to salary increment. If you know there is money in politics, nobody stops you from joining them, go and join political party and start your journey. Professors and PhD holders are there in senate or politics, you won't be the first or the last to do so. Life is full of choices! Government just did some increment not too long and you are asking for more because of what happened in Imo state effect |

Dennisochampa:I don't know of other countries, but I am sure a university professor or a medical doctor (specialist) earns more than a Member of Parliament in the UK. |

sreamsense:It's a matter of priorities. A country that prioritize Politics over education is destined for failure. A country that sounds more on politicians than academicians, particularly university lecturers will remain underdeveloped. If the best minds and those with calling for teaching are all forced to join politics in order to survive, then result will be illiteracy and semi illiteracy in our institutions. Professors should be professing solutions to scientific, technological and social problems apart from building future generations, instead of hustling outside the academic environment to make money to survive. The most developed countries of the world have top notch universities, along well renumerated and motivated Professors. |

sreamsense:Research isn't done by chalk and blackboard sir. Research is ALWAYS because of National and Economic Necessity and never for its own sake. The problem is that 1. Your government prefer Importing Goods and services, thus killing both National and Economic Necessity with one stone. 2. Your government is NOT interested in research, thus there is no INVESTMENT in cutting edge Equipment for specific research 3. Your government doesn't even know what they want from Technology: it is NOT the Job of Lecturers to determine for the government what they think the government should need. I challenge you you show me just ONE direct research needs of the government as of today and I will show you that it doesn't exist. It's all white bogus elephant! |

frog12:Greed ke? How many bags of rice can N633,333 buy? How many litres of petrol can a salary of N633,333 buy? Do you think N633,333 can sustain a man of over 40 years with a family of a wife and three children? Abi, you expect a professor and his family to be jumping korope about and feeding poorly, and staying in a face me I face you apartment. The N633,333 would not even be enough to send his children to a good university in Nigeria. |

anonimi:That your own post you quoted is so beautiful. This thread has only cemented the opinion I have on a majority of Nigerians. The innate cerebral capacity is quite below par as expected. I'm reading some comments with utter shock that an individual(s) can actually think in such pattern in 2025. Sad |
