The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, on Monday mocked his critics over the outcome of the local government election in Rivers State.

Wike said contrary to critics, he influenced the outcome of the election in his local government (Obi Akpor) which saw the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP winning.

Speaking during his monthly media chat in Abuja, Wike said some people are angry that he didn’t influence other areas during the election.

He said: “So, Wike is very popular today, is it not the same people I hear in Arise, AIT, and Channels that look, Wike can’t say he is going to determine what happens in others, he can only determine what happens in his local government.

“I have determined in my own local government, I’m a member of PDP and won in my local government

“You blow hot and cold, I have influenced and campaigned for my people to vote for PDP and my people have voted for PDP.

“Now you are angry that APC won in the other local government, which means why did I not extend my influence in the other local government I didn’t have.

“The local government determines who wins what in the state, mind you, every election has its own perception the way you look at it, you should know what is happening, are people happy with what is happening in the PDP? Did PDP contest in those local governments where APC contested?”

Your narrative isn't true about the emboldened. We voted Obi in lagos for instance, where all the LGAs Chairmen were APC. Same happened in the PDP dominated states. He came second in some APC states. Local government Chairmen only have one vote each. Even if they compel their staff to vote a particular candidate, their population is infinitesimal. All state government workers aren't beyond 10k in lagos for example. All of them cant vote one candidate, mind you.

Despite spending billions to recruit PAs in every LG in rivers ahead of the 2023 elections, Obi still won rivers. See rigging everywhere. Ask amaechi who revealed the secret. Let all the LGAs in rivers be apc, it won't change anything in 2027

Would he have been able to do this without the declaration of state of emergency in Rivers state by Tinubu? Fubara was almost sending him to oblivion. This goes to show that the madness going on in Rivers is being engineered by the president for his own selfish interest only. It was never about security. Notwithstanding, Tinubu will still not succeed in bullying the whole country to be declared president in 2027. Nigeria is bigger than that and this is desperation, not political sagacity.

He is working for an APC government, he should gather the momentum and defect like Hope Uzodinma, Dave Umahi did from PDP to APC and see how influential he is within the APC. It's his inalienable right to do so.

BY his words mumulity. One of the grievances with Sim was LGA Control and you are telling toddlers with the illegal suspension unknown to law he didn't have an inch influence in the elections. Wike that has the coast clear with state of emergency and making a governor leave sit for months(while democratically elected without been ill, without resignation or even impeachment)?

I understood what he meant. I only tackled him where he said the LG election winners determine who wins the state and I differed on that. Here in lagos, all the LGAs were apc yet, obi won likewise in other states dominated by the pdp. In same rivers, Obi won but was rigged out. Amaechi also confirmed this. See unprofessional rigging in place in rivers. Despite billions wike spent on recruiting personal assistant in each ward, with pdp ruling in all the LGAs,obi still won rivers.

In summary, LGA doesn't determine who wins the state. Its an old tale. I've rephrased my post above. Thanks
