I could have believed the story if he didn’t overdo it and say the mother was shouting at the father. A woman who comes from that kind of home would have displayed the signs in the relationship such that marriage would never have been on your radar.

Exactly! That is the essence of courtship. Folks, don't just jump into a marriage. Study each other well and ensure things sit with you both.
