Nigeria is a wacked nation. The government have so much destroyed every facets of our national life especially the health sector. No thanks to government officials especially the seating and past presidents, Senate president, NASS members and many others who go to seek healthcare in cosy foreign hospitals in advance nations. Thereby leaving the healthcare of this nation in the mess it. Then, the mass exodus of the best brains in this nation from poor infrastructural facilitis putting unnecessary pressure on the available hands that defied the odds to stay back. Now another young promising brain is gone because of the failed healthcare system and administration in Nigeria. May Nigeria never happen to you to feel the pain. Rest on Dr Femi Rotifa!!!! God's console to your grieving family and associates. Adiue bro

Thanks @doctorfolu for lending your voice @ this sad passing away of this young life of Dr. Femi Rotifa. The advocacy should go beyond rhetorics. All the management team from the consultants, senior registrars, registrars and all involved in the unfortunate death of this young man should be thoroughly investigated and punished accordingly. We cant continue like this. |

Well, I also know that Nigerian doctors are one of the most arrogant and pompous professionals, yet mostly incompetent. RIP to the doctor though. |

Racoon:Doctors is government hospitals doesn't really stress themselves at work as you people envisaged them Doctors are driven by their selfish interests when working in government hospitals There are doctors that rarely visit the clinic or mostly doctors can go on two month leave and when they resume to clinic they only just sit down while mostly work are done by the nurses. The only time a doctor get to work themselves out is when they go out to do their own private Jobs in private hospitals. So you people should stop being selfish to blame government at every woes commited by an individual

Racoon:If you think the government is corrupt, wait till you get to teaching hospitals. It's no wonder your so called professors can't call out the government because they do way worse and won't want the focus of the government on themselves. |

What a country. Systems are not being checked, systems are created not to benefit but to make it a toxic place to be, this system should be checked. |

Very painful indeed, with my last research they are over 14,k Nigeria doctors in UK only ,not entirely sure about the figures, but Nigeria doctors were the 3rd after India and Pakistan, just imagine the level of brain drains , how much more the doctors in USA and Canada and other part of the world , one of my childhood friend who managed to finish as a doctor has already travelled out of the country he said , Nigeria is not worth dying for, now I understand better, small pay and heavy work, a country where people who take lives are paid better than the ones who save lives , we are still a joke and for the notice most of the remaining doctors, many Are quack , I have seen and experienced it , peace and light ,rip to the doctor |

tegini:Well, tens of thousands of doctors are inducted yearly too. Trust me, the number of migrating doctors is very negligible compared to the numbers produced. That said, it's not easy to also migrate. The process is very tedious and cumbersome. So, we should relax with this talk of brain drain. There are still many doctors unemployed and underemployed littered around. |

My job contract states 36hrs per week, extra hours for exyra pay is solely on me to decide, no manager has the liberty to impose it on me. The crazy system wasted the doctor. |

NIGERIANS ESPECIALLY NON POLITICIANS ARE ALL FOOLISH. YES, YOU MAY BASH MY HARSH STATEMENT, BUT THAT'S THE TRUTH. COMPLAINS AND COMPLAINS IN ALL SECTOR, YET NO ACTIONS AND THAT IS WHY I USE THE HARSH WORD ABOVE. ANYONE WHO THINK THE POLITICIANS DESTROYING THE NATION WILL CHANGE WITH INTELLECTUAL OR ANY OTHER FORM OF REVOLUTION MUST WAKE FROM HIS/HER DELUSIONAL SLEEP. WHAT DO YOU THINK WILL HAPPEN IF DOCTORS, LECTURERS, LAWYERS, AND OTHER CITIZENS DECIDE TO WITHDRAW ALL FORMS OF WORK AND COLLAPSE THE COUNTRY? THEY WILL LISTEN |

omoadeleye:one of the problem we have in this country is that fools are beginning to have a voice because of social media. What do you know about the doctor patient ratio in Nigeria in relation to other countries. Do you have an idea about how bad and dysfunctional the healthcare system is in Nigeria? Stop commenting on issues you know nothing about. |

Until we wake up to realize that Nigeria's problem is first Nigerians before the leaders, things like this will continue infact become more intense. The leadership class understand this, put structure in place to protect themselves, using a fellow ordinary Nigerians whose mouth they've rub with oil and a promise of the scent of chicken while they sit to devour the chicken to look for opportunity to make more money from the masses. These ones will sit down, draw out more despotic policies for them to implement and show them how to go free with it. That's how it is in every Nigerian organization. Until we see ourselves collectively deserving the soup and not just the aroma, this divide and rule system will continue to make life more difficult for common man. RIP to the deceased dockay |

A pure lies, majorty of doctors at federal teaching hospitals are lazy and mostly care less about the patients. I can't forget how their laziness and lack of prompt treatments lead to the death of patients. |

He might have died of exhaustion related to work stress but to say that he worked for 72-hours stretch is not correct. Even prisoners on hard labour don't work non-stop.... His ogas should be blamed for the system they put in place. Yes, as bad as the Nigerian system may be the doctors and other health professionals should find a way to protect themselves but what we see is the opposite.... Who did the work rota or schedule for him? |

omoadeleye:NOT ALL DOCTORS are culprits of what you're saying. There are many selfless and compassionate doctors who do their work diligently. I suspect this young man died out of selfless service due to the ALARMING INADEQUACY of medical personnel in the midst of HUGE NUMBERS of ailing folks. May the bereaved family be consoled as we pray his soul rest in peace. |
