The first independence day ball took place in this building. It was from here late Major General JTU Aguiyi Ironsi addressed Nigerian on the morning of January 15 1966 after crushing the Majors Nzeogwu/Ifeajuna/Ademoyega coup. Though the robustness of this national edifice was unique because of the colonial masters regulations of our political progress, the current uselessness of the NASS with the occupants thereof now reduced to rubber stamped stooges of the executive have left a sour taste on our nationhood. |

Good old days before some people started baby factory businesses and started mixing bad blood with their own to produce runaway sessionist leaders causing and birthing 99.999% home grown criminalities in their domains. May the good old time and peace be returned |

They say it's one man that developed Lagos Meanwhile it's the Portuguese and British that developed Lagos. Even the name Lagos is a Portuguese word for Lagoon. To show you the Portuguese and British slave traders first meet Lagos as a lagoon. Hence the name Lagos.. |

Nigeria didn't supposed to have gotten independence. Blacks can't rule themselves. It would have developed far more than this with our nature gifted mineral resources and clime |

Kc3000:Do you think these ones have sense? If you leave them, they will even call them gods. They even have one useless 1900s colonial house in Badagry that they call the “first storey building in Nigeria”, because their British-ravaged heads are unaware that they had storey buildings in Nigeria long before Britain existed, including in Benin City which they bombarded, burned and looted in 1897. |

RollinTNDA:SA looks nice because under arphateid, their government spent disproportionately on whites. And to attract more whites.Blacks got limited money Step outside Joburg and Capetown. A lot of black people live in poverty. ANC has done a bit, but it can't change the damage |

| Re: Nigeria’s Old National Assembly Complex @ Race Course TBS Lagos by nairalanda1(m): 2:05pm On Sep 02, 2025 |
Adewale1603:We got independence at the right time. The problem was we had a choice. Industrial economy or we bring many people out of poverty. We chose the latter. That's why we are in debt severely. It costs far more than a nation wealth to bring people out of poverty. That is why we are broke Even under colonial rule far more people were poor and lacked access to even potable water. If the white stayed, nothing would have changed. |
